Can you shoot cleaning pellets through your FX guns?

I used them in my FX Impact Mk2 and my LCS 19. I put a little ballestal on the first and follow up with a dry one. They do crack a bit but its not that bad. I hear mixed opinions on cleaning air rifle barrels. Some say only when it's brand new and other clean regularly. The jury is out on that one in my opinion but I'm relatively new to air rifles.

I've probably cleaned my barrels a couple times in the past ten years....(shot Benchrest and FT)... used dry patches and only oiled barrel if I was storing rifle.
