I find that at a 100 yard target I can see the pellet hit almost every time if I am paying attention. This is with my .30 Impact shooting pellets at 900fps. And my scope on 20x.

the quality of the scope can make a huge difference as well. I use a Zeiss a lot, and can see both pellets and slugs all the way to the target up to 200 yards. If I am having any issues with accuracy, I like to shoot at night, I use a 2400 lumen x 140,000 light and instantly any issues at all with a slug or pellet.
A fast, 1000 + fps slug is a beautiful sight with it's mild arch heading into vermin on the property. Even at very extended ranges.

Yes, sometimes. It depends mostly on lighting conditions.
Sometimes when shooting a pigeon I’ll see the pellet flying when looking thru the scope and “think” I’m going to miss but then the pigeon drops like a stone.

I saw the pellet in flight yesterday... 25.4 gr at 912fps and 50 yards. The light was just right. The ground squirrel did not see it coming, wrong lighting.
