Can I run 2 tanks when I tether? (Newbie question)

Hello I am new to the large scba tanks . I have a ninja 90 ci tank with regulator that's supposed to be set to 3000psi. I think it's a little off because it won't fill any of my guns past 2500psi even when it's at 4500. So I found a newer Scott 45 min tank with a born date of 12/12 it's still in the scba backpack and it was a spare one that my friends firehouse never used it has always been stored in the firehouse and still has 4500 psi in it from when they first got it . I went on line and ordered a fill station for it . So here's my question I am shooting a Texan 457 if I hook the bigger bottle to the smaller bottle then to the tank on my gun. would I then in thery be shooting regulated? Is there any reason I should not be doing this? I will be getting a huma inline reg eventually but I want to get a modirator first or maybe a carbon fiber tank and better valve.

thanks

Dan this is a tricky question because you will need to fill the ninja tank behind the reg for the reg to be at the 2500 psi you are speaking of, but if it is filling in front of the reg then you will be putting 4500 psi into your gun.

You would be safer to use the bigger tank at 3000psi tethered but if you are sure you are running at 2500 psi output and you are filling behind the reg you should be okay

Yes it can be done, safely and easily. Here is my set up. All built from parts. The SCBA feeds the PB tank whatever pressure is in the tank. The output of the paintball reg I have set to 2950psi. All I do is connect a male foster of another hose to the female that is shown on the ASA. This hose is them connected to the gun.

Sure it can be done but why would you want to use a large Cf bottle to fill a small bottle to fill a gun? Wouldnt it be easier to use a large cf bottle fill to 3000 psi or use a regulator in the large bottle to it will only output to 3000 psi.

If you read his whole post he eventually "wants" to get an inline regulator, which is basically what the small bottle is doing for him, except at no (little) additional cost since he already has it. He wants to know if there is any down side to it.

Not sure how it would be easier to run just the large bottle. Sure he could just hook up the large bottle, open it and fill to 3000psi, close the valve, shoot a shot and then open the valve and fill to 3000pi, close the vale and keep repeating the process..........................or he could just hook it up once (as I have shown above) and keep shooting till the large bottle is down to 3000psi. This way will in fact save on wear in the SCBA valve.

I second what BigTinBoat said. As long as your hose from the big tank is filling the smaller bottle itself, before the regulator, then you are safe and shooting on a regulated tether. I would think you could hook everything up in less than a minute, shoot to your heart's content, and break everything down in less than a minute. Doesn't seem like much trouble to me, especially since it doesn't involve spending any more money to do it this way.

Thanks for the input guys that's what I was looking for . In my head it made sense I just wanted to make sure before I tried it . The weather was really great here in Ohio 61 degrees today but I have had the flu and didn't get out to shoot like I wanted to. Crappy way to spend Christmas but thats the way it goes sometimes.

Thanks again
