Can anybody tell me what these are?

I’ve seen the question a few times lately; what’s the difference between the .25 caliber, 33.95gr. FX, MKI and MKII pellets? I see the biggest difference in the skirt depth and thickness but there are variations in the head too. Also shown in the picture are the 26gr FXHybrid slug and a VK 32.8gr slug. So do you know by looking at them which is which? From left to right, what do you think? Have a good one.

The Mk1 and MkII differ in the skirt size...the MK1 being larger and consequently not compatible with some magazines, thus they reduced them in the MkII. I don't know where the FX variant lies but my guess is it would have skirts more like the latter.

Any other noticeable geometric differences like deep vs shallow skirts will flip flop depending on the particular manufacturing lot. That is, a tin of MkII purchased today may have shallow skirts and one purchased six months from now may be deeper.

The Varmint Knocker is last, and the hybrid next to last. :)

Aloha! It’s kind of ironic you responded. Just last week, around Thanksgiving, I asked Wayne if he was going to Hawaii anytime soon. Your name came up and Wayne and I were talking about you, all good of course! He said to say hello.

Anyway, didn’t mean this to be a big secret... Left to right are MKI, MKII, FX, FX Hybrid and VK. What is strange to me is that the MKII shoot best in my Impact with a slug A liner, the MKI shoot a close second and the FX that look almost identical to the MKII don’t shoot well at all. It just goes to show that looks can be deceiving, exactly why I test everything over and over.

Have a good one. Stoti

Aloha Stoti,

Tell Wayne I said hello and how’s his place in Pepeekeo , I know our state has a pretty strict quarantine coming to Hawaii.

I know what you mean about testing different pellets to find the right one then be able to buy that same production batch. Anyways I hope you and your family are doing good in these times of covid.

Aloha, Keone

Lewis, don’t give me a hard time man, us lefties need to stick together! I just got a little cheap macro lens and wanted to take a picture of something. Crazy how these little differences in design or manufacture make such a huge difference in accuracy.

Keone, I’ll tell Wayne hello. He’s been spending more time down in the desert since he can’t go to Hawaii. Our family is all good, just staying close to home. Hope all is well over there too. Have a great holiday season!
