I got this item with a forum purchase and I don't know what it is exactly.....

It is a sling attachment.

PIcatinny rail that attaches to a sling stud and has a sling stud sticking out. That way you gain a rail without losing a sling stud or drilling additional holes.

Yep.... if you have a sling stud on one of your guns you can use that to add a bipod or other accessory and still have a sling stud. No drilling.
I have and use a few of them.
