If the plastic guage cover is cracked, can it leak air from the main air tube? Gun is FX Dreamline with a slow leak. The main tube pressure guage is cracked on the side, wondering if just replacing the guage may fix the slow leak too.

Gauges can certainly develop internal leaks, but the lens is not responsible for holding pressure.

Thanks, thats what I thought. Will keep an eye on it and if the rate increases will need to get busy with soap spray. No easy way out

A gauge can not only leak, those covers can blow out. It literally happened to me. A cheap Chinese fill whip. I now wear safety glasses when observing my gauges. You can not be too safe with PCP, springer or any projectiles and their source of propulsion.

I just recently resealed my dreamline. If it has a slow leak I’m 75% sure it’s from the reg adjustment screw hole. A quick reg reseal should have you back in top shape. 910 Airgun repairs has awesome videos on yt.

NO. Manometers themselves are not pressurized between the needle and glass or plastic cover.

As others have said, no, just a cracked/broken lens will not cause an air leak. Problem is, what broke your lens. A hit to the gauge that broke the lens could have damaged the little very high pressure gauge, or less likely but possible, could have loosened its seal.
No need to guess. Get a small cup with a little warm water on the bottom and add a few drops of dish detergent. Froth it up by whipping it with a few fingers in the bottom of the cup. Apply the thick froth to any suspected leaking areas with your fingers. The suds froth will bubble up unmistakably showing a leak when you find one. JFYI, much better/faster/surer way to leak check small leaks than spraying a soap mix on.

The cover is not what holds the pressure. Imagine that lens cover holding 4500 psi. You can pop these lens off if you squeeze it hard enough with a wrench. And just replace the lens. Or just replace the whole guage. They aren't expensive anyways.

My gauge was cracked as well. No problem with air pressure, leaks etc. But the crack was the proverbial canary in the coalmine. Upon closer inspection turns out there was a fissure between the thread and the body of the gauge as well. That explained its frustrating inaccuracy. It had probably been overtightened. A 3.5 bucks replacement from Aliexpress later -- problem solved. Feel much better about this gun now, funny how annoying such a smal issue can be.

acs, yes will check with soap solution. Funny thing is the slow leak was only detected after I started shooting springer in FT meaning the pcp sat in closet for a while!
