Can A Blitz Barrel Be Shortened?

What do you mean..."function as intended" ?

Yes, you can trim the barrel as short as you like, provided that you leave room to reinstall the suppressor. It may be VARY close to the air cylinder and ot the stock.
A clean end cut, with a nice clean crown in the bore. The crown doesn't have t be large or exotically polished, or a huge radius, or anything fancy. Just a clean, burr-free chamfer.

Then either a new thread of your choice, normally 1/2-20 . Or an adapter to attach to the end of the barrel to be able to attach the suppressor.
All pretty straight forward. What..."was at the end of the barrel", needs to be "redone" at the end of the barrel...where-ever the new end is !

The barrel below is almost 3.0" shorter than when I removed it from its box. Still shoots fine, as accurate as it was with its full length barrel. Maybe a few feet per second slower, but that of no matter to me.

Sure...any barrel can be cut. I've cut a few. If the barrel is choked i usually cut the breech end and machine it back to insure I keep the accuracy it had before. There are pros and cons to cutting a barrel though. Pro.. the rifle is a tad lighter. Rifle being shorter is definitely nice in certain situations.
Con... You will loose fps and fpe.. and will most in likely need to be tuned to the shortened barrel. If you in to doing the work...go for it! Or needing/wanting a shorter rifle sounds like a good excuse to buy a new rifle 😁

That's excellent info, and it looks great! Pretty much exactly what I had in mind. As for functioning as intended; that is to say that the semi, and full auto features remain reliably functional. I wasn't sure if the length of the barrel, and shroud HAD to be what they are in order to function.

My concern pertains to how the barrel shroud functions as part of the cycling system that gives the semi, and full auto features. I was wondering if anyone has tried this on the Blitz specifically, and gotten it to work. Or if the barrel, and shroud, are the lengths, and proportions they are, or the semi,/full auto features wonk work. I'd love to hear from folks who've been inside these particular rifles. Though of course all input is appreciated...

Good story. But not for an Semi-auto Hatsan

Do you know how the repeating system works on a hatsan?
The Sortie also works with a short barrel, so perhaps it can be made.
But you have to change a lot to make it work again.

As of yet, I've only looked at the exploded diagram. As such it appears that the action works in tandem with the shroud. So JUST shortening the barrel isn't the only thing I'm wondering about; but rather, the barrel, shroud, and moderator as a unit, to a short handy carbine length.

No...but innovation is the key to fun.
If the barrel can be made at 30" long, is can be reworked to 25" long, just by a little rework.

Plus as "you" say...the "Sortie"...is a...pretty short barreled gun, just proves my point !

They are for sales already in Europe.
Interesting. I just Googled a bit of it. I still think I'd prefer the standard version chopped down though. Seeing that thing in bullpup configuration seems like it would feel really top heavy. Having the standard model with the barrel terminating about 1/2, to an inch past the cylinder would seem ideal for length, and balance.

The barrel should be shorter then because in front of the barrel in the shroud sits the piston that provide the movement that is needed to cycle the gun.

Indeed. The whole series of assemblies would have to be moved rearward. What I wonder about... Is if in order to do so; it might leave you with a barrel so short, it might be next to useless. I suspect that the volume of air in the shroud is critical to the cycling of the action. But I don't actually know...

Yes it is.
So it can be that if you change everything, you also have to put in a softer hamerspring. Because it would not cycle anymore. Then you lose a lot of power.

Just curious. Looks like it might be a fun gun to tote around in the side×side. So I was wondering if the overall barrel length can be chopped down, while retaining the fun features. And if so, how much can it be shortened, and still function as intended? Has anyone here tried it?
There's a shooter on Utube who has shortened a Blitz into a carbine. Macabeespeed is his channel
