came across a vintage crossman 400

i know nothing about pellet rifles , but was given a crossman 400 in poor condition that i want to restore , there is nothing on youtube that explains disassembly , the rifle was rusted externally and i need to disassemble to arrest and remove the rust then reblue

also the bolt is operating kind of hinky , its binding because the breech lug is hanging up so i need to get in there and clean and oil those parts , i buy old vintage firearm's and restore them as a hobby , i just have zero experience in pellet rifles , and it was free and vintage so i figure why not bring the old girl back from the dead

i need to know how to disassemble the fire control group , the cam assembly and the breech lug , i believe the seals surprising ly are fine so far , but i will address that as a phase two , any help would be greatly appreciated

You can go to the Crosman web site and down load a schematic and users manual and go from there. I have resealed a few of them and they are pretty straight forward. You will need a reseal kit. Best to buy one from an airgun shop, there are several. You will need some orings and an exhaust valve in the kit. Precision Pellet, Baker Airguns, And Mac1, come to mind, but there are others. Did you get the magazine with yours? any time they ate missing. Good luck.

OK , spent afew minutes on it today , evidently there was a set screw in the breach block that covered another set screw , so i was able to remove it and the cam , also finally got the co2 tube cap off without any damage or marring , still trying to figure out the bolt

i think the seals are ok for now , i pull the cocking piece back at the rear or what ever it is and it charges the trigger and squeeze the trigger and it it goes poof , there was (2) Co2 cartridges in it
