Call out to all the tripod users out there!

What are you all using? And how do you like it?



im looking for a decent tripod (by decent I mean not breaking the bank, but not gonna fall apart after first use). I would like to use it on all of my guns and they all have different mounts. Does the bog death grip check all these boxes? I’d like to have something that’ll hold most of the weight of the gun, and lock sturdy enough to take good shorts from without being supported too much by me.

Great timing! I have a Bog pod field pod that I have used for 3 years and I like it but a couple of times my rifles have slipped to the side and fell out of the rest when I was not supporting them. Not Good. Happened Wednesday to my Compact Impact and naturally affected the zero. The rests are not very gripping on the sides of the rifles. I had just added the death grip to my Amazon Wishlist and am doing some research. Thanks for any advice.

I'm going to buy one. I'll update after I've used it in the field.

Is there an arca adapter that can also be put on the tripod to use the arca rail if I wanted to? Or a picatinny adapter? Or am I stuck with the death grip head?

how about adjustability on the fly? Or is there a better option for similar pricing? 


im totally new to the tripod game, and honestly I’m looking for others experience before I spend the money.

Here is what I did it may help you understand your options a bit better. I can't recommend the Primos tripod though as one of the legs has collapsed twice and dropped my Impact to the floor. It landed on a pile of cardboard I had ready to recycle once and on a chair the next time so not much in the way of damage.

Mid-Evil Industries is what I use. I go from fore grip to tripod with just a click. It's a good set up.

What size are you looking for? Meaning bench size or something you can use standing and sitting? I went with an ARCA mount on all my guns now. 2 have an ARCA rail and the other one a pic rail with ARCA adapter. Having used ARCA now for awhile I find that the way to go vs picatinny. 

Have 2 different tripods one for standing and other for bench. Small one about $200 from Amazon and big one around $400. Both are amazing quality for the price and about the awesome value for the money

M looking for something for standing and sitting. From the bench I have a plethora of things to use. As far as using arca specifically, the arcs would work on my impact, but my wildcat has picatinni very close to the end (not balanced in any way) and that would be difficult to put an arca rail on. Then I would like to use my tx200 springer from it too. This would mean no grip at all to allow it to move freely. The bog could be used just as a guide and not grip the gun at all. I do like the arca setup, but I really want to use the tripod for all my guns, not just the impact.

I'm using an Induro Grande Series 3, with a Gitzo head. I mounted and arca plate directly to the wooden stock of my PCP. I use an Arca/Picatiny adpater for the ones that already have picatiny rails.

I have the bog deathgrip. It's a very robust design and has worked well for me but I think there is better/smoother ones out there. You can get different heads for it but i dont know anything more about that.

So if you are going with stock deathgrip there are a few things I missed, first was not matter how tight I made it the head would still swivel, next it doesn't cant yes you can adjust a leg but I like with the ball head your legs can be uneven and keep your gun straight by using the ballbead. Now I found a mount that you clamp into the jaws and you can add any ball head but this raises the mount higher which isn't a big deal but without being able to keep the head from completely swiveling it wasn't for me.

I bought one (Bog-Pod Deathgrip) on Amazon and I just returned it. Very big and heavy. Too much for airguns. I have the field-pod and like it. I'm going to figure out how to make the rear rest higher so rifles won't slip off at times. I'll post a picture once I've figured it out.

Anyone used the Spartan offerings? I like that you attach an adapter to each rifle that stays with it, then it clips into the tripod, and uses the same fitting for their bipeds. Genius design! Seem well made, but a Lil’ pricey. Worth it if they work though!
