Happens every few years here. It is the 'Land of Fruits and Nuts' after all.
The last time it made the news was a couple of years ago (?) up towards the Bay Area.
Sometimes it isn't guns, but slingshots. With all of the freeways and traffic in CA = 'target rich environment' to some.
My brother used to work at a hospital in downtown L.A., and some years back his windshield suddenly 'vanished' while he was driving home one night on the 10 freeway. Fortunately on the freeways in CA in the big cities, no one is ever able to go very fast.
Government out here is based on wishful thinking: "Everyone deep down must have a good heart so we don't need to have punishments which would fit the crime (and possibly serve as a deterrent)." Personal Responsibility is a near totally lost concept in CA.
