AirMaks Arms Caiman X .22 cal how to quiet This thing

Hi all,
Just Pulled the Trigger on a new Caiman X, I have received it & taken a few shots. Its not as Quiet as I would like.
From Utah Air its shooting 18.13 gr at 860 FPS.
My only reference is a .25cal Flashpup with Hajimoto baffles & buck rail moderator. The .25cal is quiet a bit quieter.
I tried the buck rail mod on the Caiman & it is still to loud.
Anyone have any suggestions on what moderators work well for this Gun?
Thanks for any info

Check that the hammer spring tension is adjusted properly. If it is set too heavy, the gun will expel more air than necessary and be loud as a result.

we have all been neutered and are forbidden to talk about cold air hush barrel devices , are you sure you dont want to talk about something else ?

The Caimans have a pretty short barrel shroud so they seem to put out a little more noise as compared to other air guns with comparable 500-ish mm barrels.

With that said, it doesn't seem to take too much to tame their bark if they aren't wasting air as folks have described above. Mine is a Gen 1 'X' in .25 cal and a simple FX by DonnyFL mod does the job just fine. It seems like the 'ping' from the gun's action is louder than its muzzle report, but that ping is right by the shooter's ear.

Awfully good shooting guns though (especially after performing the weevil mod).

Thanks alll, Don't have a Chrony yet, it been on my list it seems this is a must have Item.
I can try backing off a bit on the hammer spring.

IKnowNutin - On the Falx, What flow did you order?

TMH - I have looked at the DonnyFL FX was wondering how well it worked on the Caiman, Thanks for verifying.

I will take a leap on a Mod soon, Trying to get as much info as I can.

Just FYI, one of the $30 infrared chronographs will do fine for basic PCP tuning.

For example, I have two more expensive chronographs but I grab the clamp-on 9 times out of 10.

I don't know which version it is, actually. I've got 4 of them new and used and never marked them. All my new ones were "the high flow" and I would recommend that option regardless. Like mentioned by TMH, the most perceived noise will then be hammer ping resonating through the enclosed stock.

The Caiman built in moderator is modular but I've never seen extra sections for it. They screw together so if you could get Utah Air or somebody to order you one that should work without lengthening the gun much. I have a Caiman X in 22 and it's favorite pellet is the H&N Baracuda 18 grain. I usually shoot them a little over 900 fps. Hard to get it tuned for under 900 fps. If I want it really quiet I use my Donny FL Tanto on it. I think it is 25 caliber but it still quiets a 22.
