Can anyone tell me which Butler cap I would need for an objective that measures 2.035 diameter? By looking at their chart I thought it would be a #33 but when it arrived the package says #33. 1.700. It’s way too small.
Yandeltx I think maybe they might of given you the wrong one because a 1.700 is size 20 but on the other hand you may have looked at the wrong chart . they have different designs in which they list different sizes example your size for the blizzard is a size 9 . Which style you looking for ?
Just my $.02, but Vortex makes a much better flip cap then Butler creek. The material is a soft stretchy rubber, the hinges are stronger, and the cap lids will flip all the way back and flatten/stay parallel to the scope.
I ordered some BC caps for a scope the dimensions were iffy on from Amazon. Ordered one of each on either side of the assumed/measured size for both objective and ocular.
The charts had sizes for objective lens and sizes for ocular lenses, make surevyou get the correct end of the scope. As mentioned there are other scope caps that might be of better quality. Over the years I have found the caps with clear covers are more usefull as they can bevused in a hurry without flipping them up for quick pest control. Also a plus in poor weather conditions. Just some food for thought!!!
Monstrum caps for me. Look exactly like the vortex rubber ones but at less than $10 a piece and come with a lifetime warranty. Hinges are way stronger than the butter creek types, as Harv24 stated
MKM caps are the top quality which I really like but expensive. I've tried Vortex ones but don't like the stretchy rubber as they don't stay on the scope nicely. I still have butler caps. Not as durable as the others but cheap and stay on much better than the Vortex.
