Bushnell Engage 4-16x44 Review

Hey All

I ordered a new Bushnell Engage 4-16x44 a couple months ago, intending to use it on an AR-10 build I’ve been working on.

While waiting for a Nightforce SHV I ordered for my new RAW to arrive, I decided it would be a good temporary fit for my RAW TM1000 .177. (Got it for Xmas and couldn’t wait any longer to use it.)

After some target work, I’ve decided to keep it on my RAW.

Here are my impressions:

Clarity:

While this is a subjective assessment, I would rate the Engage at a solid 9/10. Colours are vivid, image is sharp at all magnifications and there is very little optical distortion. It is as good as the MTC Viper Pro, Hawke 30SF or Leupold VX2. I still prefer the Nightforce SHV or NXS, but only barely and definitely not enough to justify the extra $1500 cost.

Some may find the “Deploy” reticle a little cluttered, but it is very fine for target work.

Parallax is adjustable down to 10 Yards.

Controls:

The magnification ring is smooth and controllable. The locking pop-up elevation/windage knobs have clean and controllable clicks. All clicks track properly.

The included lens caps add to the overall package.

Value:

At $550 CAD this scope is an amazing value. It is as good or better than my MTC Viper Pro’s or Hawke 30SF’s, and is 90%+ as good as my Nightforce SHV or NXS models.

Overall I’m very impressed with this scope and expect it to become very popular in the airgun world.
