Bullpups?

Kral does make the Benji Akela, but to Crossman/Benjamin's spec, and the support (5 year warranty) comes from Crosman in the U.S.

A buddy just bought an Akela as his first PCP air rifle. Had some issues where the gun wouldn't fire on the first, second, third pull of the trigger, and then would fire. He returned it to Crosman and they just sent him a new gun.

Shooting a bullpup with a mid-cocking lever is great. Its very hard to get used to chocking the gun in the back but it is do-able. If you are unsure if a bullpup will work for you, you can pick up a used wildcat for about 700 shipped if one is available. If you can't wait, you could buy an Artemis p35 for about $472. With the p35, you could test a bullpup without breaking the bank. If you like the design, you could think about jumping to the 1k or more pcp's. You may not decide to make the jump because I've read and watch other people are liking the p35

Call Charlie at Georgia airguns. Not only will he give you advice, he also sets up the gun. He will tune it and let you know which ammo it likes. Edguns are a solid choice, I sold my r5m long to get a Leshiy2. I still think the Uragan and taipan are going to be tough to beat. What fill source do you have and what distance are you wanting to shoot? Hunting or punching paper?

I agree with everyone about Charlie at Georgia air. He will have a nice phone conversation with you, not a salesman conversation. Be aware that you aren’t buying from a big box store with Charlie. Nothing against the big companies, they provide a service a lot of instant gratification people like. Your order from Charlie will get lengthy individual service, not just a check if it holds air. I felt like a number to Utah Airguns when I had a few questions before ordering. I felt like a friend of Charlie’s. My rifle was shipped 2 months from the day I ordered from Charlie, but it was a busy time for him. If you buy a uragan, order it from him.

As you said to a point ! Is $1000 more going to be a good investment for you? You already have a compressor and good scope?

Budget.....use and wants...If I was going to spend big money It would be as davecole suggested....

Little money say under $800 to $600 what you said or research and buy used...

If you are getting a Prod ...hold off on getting a Bullpup...as the Prod can be made into a Great little carbine which could be all you need.

At first I really didn't like bullpubs at all .. all my gun were long... then I purchased my first cricket..now all except 3 of my guns are bullpubs n I don't see my self shooting or having a long rifle .. unless is used to shoot heavy lead in 224 or 257.. a bullpub could easily have 30" barrel while still being no more than 36" long .. a traditional rifle with a 30" barrel will be way to long for most people with a supresor 50" + inches long...

For someone new to PCP's, what should be their first bullpup? What should I stay away from?

I would suggest that you handle a bullpup style of air gun, before you buy one, others have not liked them on bench rests,/ bag . Also how the gun is set up, cocking lever, magazine location, scope placement / eye relief . It may not be a good fit for you. As far as recommendations , It boils down to your budget, shooting style, the accuracy / reliability , and warranty . You may want to add an air source, and accessories you will want , in your budget. The other members who have bull pups can give you brand specific recommendations better then I can. MAY THE AIR GUN GODS GUIDE YOU IN YOUR DECISION !!!

I love both my Weihrauch Bullpups. I have one in .22 and one in .177. They shoot one hole groups at 25 yards with most any pellet. The silencer is fantastic and the German engineering is superb. I love the easy loadable 14 round magazines. They will mount either dovetail or picatinny. Cost is around $1,500 from AoA. They are will balanced and easy to point. My .22 hurls a .22 CPHP at 970 fps and the .177 will send a JSB 10.4 downrange at a speedy 1080. The accuracy of both rival my Pulsar.

Look at what matters for you: accuracy, weight, durability, ergonomics, price, noise level.

For me, I love the Taipan Vet trigger and quality, I love the Edgun Matador R3 singleshot for its simplicity, quality and low weight, I love the R5 for its large cal .30 in a small package with low noise… every bullpup is different, and for me I would not mind lever at the back unless you intend to lay down cover fire in a warzone…

Get the one that fits you and the lever action is preferably in front of you, get one that has the most readily available parts

I picked FX and Edguns as my choice because of part availability and great guns and I live only 40 miles from Brian of EDgun West :)

FX has a facility in NC USA

Here's your list of present day Bull Pups, starting with my Edgun Leyla 2, being the shortest of all Bull Pups now go nuts... :)

But my Edgun Leyla 2 in a bit longer with the BAT stack moderator mod, O yea :)
