N/A Budget pcp hand pump pistol recommendations.

I see there is an older thread on this question but maybe opinions are changed now.
Looking for lower priced pcp pistol with hand pump for varmint control such as possum.

Not long range, just needs to be better than my crosman p1322 which has a stated 460 fps.
Im using crosman premier hollow point 14.3 gr.
I literally see them bouncing off prey.
Im not interested in putting more money into the crosman.

Would the Snowpeak PP750 fit your budget or are you looking to spend more? They're rated at like 10.5fpe which I can tell you for certain won't bounce a pellet off a squirrel. I've taken squirrel at 55yds with an 11.5fpe .22 springer

Im sure it would do the job.
I would consider a used one if thats an option.
Cheaper is better.

A possum? Buy a rifle. Even a strong break barrel will run circles around a cheap pcp pistol. Or you can get a good deal on a Gamo Urban or Avenger etc during the holidays.

Any ole cheap pcp pump off ebay should be fine.

Air guns are not really suited for possum unless it is extremely precise and 50+fpe.

I've used my 25 caliber pp800 on coons, which is pretty similar use-case. But it outputs quadruple the factory power (48fpe)

Oh I didn't see the possum part there. Yeah I agree with Mongoose. You want more power or be REALLY good with that pistol. We're talking brain shots only. Body shots are not going to be guarenteed.

Yes a break barrel rifle would be cheap and perfect for my needs but it needs to be a pistol.

If you're willing to step up to .25, you can get well over 20 fpe right out of the box with a Bandit. A little tuning will get you close to 30 fpe too. Shot count won't be great but there's plenty of power available in this platform.

Have you considered noise ? A 16 FPE PCP pistol is loud . Also you have not stated your version of cheap ?

I have dispatched Possums with a low power spring pistol (webley ) simply a body shot puts them into a frozen state then walk right up to it and gangland style back of the head shots.
OR in your case shoot a body shot with your 1322 and then club it in the head . ethical kill ?

Cothran valve and custom 10mm od x 6mm I'd ptfe transfer port. As well as barrel transfer port hogged out to 6mm. You'll wind up cutting thru at least one of the barrel oring grooves, so have to cut a new barrel oring groove. I didnso with a little cutting wheel on a Drenel. Slow and careful.

I have a 15" barrel I ported as well, and it will get 65fpe

Shot count is like 2 and a half. I'm sure the valve could be tuned better. But I've been too busy with life, work l, and family to fool with it.

Far as I know the Notos would be the most PCP pistol for the least amount of money, and has plenty enough power for possum. Considering most likely your shots will be at (literal) spitting distance, you'll likely get full penetration through the brain; even through the chest on any but the largest possums.

Get a .22 caliber.
