Budget close range pesting optic(parallax <=5yds)

This one would be the one I would go with at that range and it focuses down to 5 yards
Bug buster is a decent choice too, but they're becoming overpriced imo, and Discovery scopes are very decent glass at their price point

Immersive Optics will focus down to 5 meters/yards.
This how the dope card looks like on my 5-30 pro MDR reticle zeroed at 20M:

I'm not entirely sure what all that means, but I am starting to learn that even with a parallax set at 10+yds, an optic is still functional at 5yds.

Thanks man

It means that the IO series of scopes focusing down to 5M/Y, you can range to that short distance and you can clearly differentiate if 4.5 M or 5.5 M.
This is very critical when you aiming at that "extreme" short distances. That MDR reticle was my preference, other reticles are available as well.
Parallax is a different thing and I don't think matters @ 5M.
Anyway, just an option since the OP was asking for a close range (pesting) optics.

Hey AGN,
Looking for a solid budget pesting optic for my dad to use in his backyard, almost everything will be in the 3-15yd range, with the longest shots being maybe 20yds. I was drawn to the bugbuster because it goes down to 3yds which I think would be pretty useful for him around the fruit trees and around the chicken coop.

Its hard to find the minimum parallax for lots of these budget optics, and so far I've found a few like the hawke 2-7, utg bugbuster 3-9, some vectors(2-6x32AO), discovery, and a few other chinese brands I've run into. Just wanted to get what people here would recommend instead of me trying to randomly source info around the internet.

I'm new to all of this, so maybe a 10yd min parallax is still completely usable even at 3-5yds.

Thanks!
Hi again slickmamba. Please let us know what you end up getting and what you and your Dad think about it -- especially your Dad, since he's the one that's going to be using it. I'm an old guy too with crappy vision in a similar situation and I'm sure there are many others in the same boat. Thanks.

Ah I see that makes sense. I’m surprised you have to aim up so significantly for 5m, I guess that’s the effect when it’s zeroed for 20m I would likely zero it to 10

Yes definitely. Leaning toward the bug buster 3-9 or a fixed in the 3-6 range.
