Budget 30 cal?

I have both a impact 25 cal and crown 30 cal and they are not backyward friendly. Especially shooting at night time. Idk why you want something quiet, yet go for a 30 cal. What do you want to kill at night in your backyard? A bear? Lol. If you want to shoot quietly at night in your backyard, the .177 and .22 is the way to go. I would not shoot a .25 or .30 at night. Neighbors will thinking someone shooting a .22 rimfire or something. I wouldnt want cops being call in the middle of the night. Sometime I shoot rats at night in my yard, so i use my .177. Gets the job done. I leave the .25/.30 for hunting in the woods.

I want it quiet which is why I would tune it down. A 25 cal at 30 fpe is a good quite loud in most cases. It is I have a 25 cal condor but even after a donny emperor it's very loud until below 650 fps.

You can't have a quiet .30 shooting animals because the sound of the pellet impact is so loud. You can have everything you want in a good .22 with a properly sized suppressor.

Ill bite i shoot a tiapan vet shorty in .25 at night with a donny emperor on it at full power. Alot. My edgun leshy factory baffle extention tuned to 600fps isnt loud at all. And slow and heavy doest bother me as much on how far pellet is travelling. Still giving me the power needed to pop coons in the chicken coup. Personal experiance isnt really the noise as much as repeating it in quick session that draws attention. But budget friendly .30 was the thing i could not find so i got a leshy barrel.

Hey guys I am just wondering if you have any ideas on budget 30 cal pcp's. I intend to tune it down to 40 fpe or so to maintain quiet in late night backyard operations. I don't however want to spend fx or edgun prices. I'm thinking about a hatsan and then detuning it somehow. Any ideas?

Just get the Hatsan 130QE. It will only cost you $170 refurb and has plenty of power at 50+ yards. And is accurate and quiet.

I've killed a yote with it. Perfect for around the property! Mine averaging 530 to 570 fps

Why not try a shorter .25 barrel and couple baffles in frame before LDC, + adjustable tophat with restrictor insert to make it even quieter.

Just added 10" Neil Clague ldc to my talonp, its backyard friendly at 65fpe, but at 40fpe its whisper quiet.

My 25 cal Hatsan Nova Star is tuned to 60 fpe and it's very quiet. I have a DonnyFL Fatboy suppressor on it. The quietest 30 cal I have is my Ataman M2R shooting 78 fpe through a Huggett LDC. It's as quiet as a quiet 22 cal. It's the gun because I have tried a 30 cal Hugget LDC on other 30 cal PCPs and they're nowhere near as quiet as the Ataman.

Is it quiet when the pellet hits an animal ? Mine is quiet until the pellet hits and then it sounds like you smacked a wet pillow with a boat paddle full on. Everyone within 100 yards will hear it... probably inside their houses.

I am shooting literally 12 feet away from a tent blind. I hadn't really thought about the hatsan break barrel. I'm sure the action is loud but probably manageable. That might be the ticket.

Mine shoots very accurate at 40+ yards it will definitely kill anything up to a yote at that range. It sounds about like a staple gun going off. You won't have to spend a lot of $$$ either.

Just added talon tunes quick change top hat. At 2 on power wheel, with small restrictor, its shooting polymags at 700 fps for 28fpe and along with slap mod hammer, it's way more quiet than a magnum powered break barrel.

Don't know if you have ring lock valve kit or any other means to adjust the flow of air, but if you do not, you should consider giving it a try.

I was about to buy another gun just to shoot backyard pests, I needed a quiet 30fpe, as I was only able to get my talonp down to 40fpe, and passthrough was undesired.

Now I can take it down to 23fpe and reduce the airflow making it extremely quiet as well.

But it's the audible pop when the pellet meets the fur that I am tuning for now, and 28fpe is not as loud as 40fpe, so I am starting there and will go up or down pending results.
