Budget 30 cal?

Regarding sound... my Edgun Matador R5 with JSB 44 grain @880 fps has quieter muzzle report than the pellet smack at 50y. From a bystander perspective 10y away.

What shooter hears is one thing, but for people around it’s usually very different.

Definitely. They just sound like a staple gun up close and rather unsuspicious from a short distance away.

Also, I shot my R5 .30 long without the moderator last weekend, and it was probably one of the loudest PCPs that I have heard. You really have to try it both ways to appreciate the moderator's effectiveness, and really Ed knows how to quiet things down.

Regulated guns tuned to be air efficient are going to be quieter than a non regulated gun.

The quietest gun I have is my Mrod with balanced valve and regulated, tuned to 54fpe with 33.95's. 24g hammer with a very light spring make no sound whatsoever.

I could shot it in a room full of people talking socializing, and nobody would stop talking or know...don't ask me how I know this to be true, but the report is non existent.

If there was a balanced Airforce valve made I'd be first in line to pick one up
