I haven’t contributed much to a forum in a while. I came across a need for something a little while back, and I want to share this with you all. By no means is this a revelation of any sort..
I downsized from a large tank to a smaller one recently when I had 5 years left on it. While looking around my shop for ideas to protect it, I literally stumbled over the answer sitting on the concrete slab. For any of you who own a 100 cu in sized (or similar) tank, check this out. It’s just a 5 gallon bucket. The foam which the tank came shipped in just needed the corners rounded. She fits like a glove! The business end is exposed and my empty sauerkraut container fits nicely on top. I have a hole drilled in the middle of the lid with a slice going from the center all the way to the side. I have some old bike inner tube scrap rubber cemented to one side of the slice to act as a flap keeping out debris. The great thing about the sauerkraut container is that it is the perfect size to create a tension fit when the handle is in the up position for storage.
All in all simple, quick, and cheap.
