BSA R10 mk2 barrel cut

Hi guys

I have a standard 20 foot pound .177 R10. I would love to have a shorter barrel. I tried to find one on the internet Knibbs, and every other source of barrel maker, and parts store available, no avail. 

Next, I may consisder cutting the barrel. Good Idea or bad one.

if its done properly why not ?
shorter barrel = less fps

If the barrel is choked, you'd have to take off length from the breech end unless you don't mind losing the choke. Depending on the way the barrel fits the breech, that may necessitate re-machining the transfer port and inlead. If it were me considering all that effort I might buy a replacement barrel and do the modifications on it, that way you still have a good barrel if things go badly.

If you cut the barrel the correct way is from the breech end not the muzzle. Ultra and scorpion barrels are a direct fit to the R10 so you might find someone who wants to get rid of their barrel or trade for your barrel.
