Brocock Compatto trigger adjustment

I've had my compatto for awhile now and was ok with the trigger... until I bought my FX compact. So I decided to lighten it up some last night. I understand it will probably never be as nice as my fx but its gotta improve some. After watching a video AOA showing how to adjust it. I was all set... until the darn loc-tite... I'm not sure what that $h!t is but wow...is it some tough stuff!

What is the best way to loosen it up? My best guess would be to use a soldering iron? Has anyone had this issue with their compatto?

The Bantam Sniper i have is the exact same. I would say use a soldering iron or a very small torch just to heat it up enough to break the Loctite. Be very careful it is a small screw that can strip out very easily. Also you barely need to move the screw to make major adjustments. You are right the trigger will never be as light as an FX rifle but it will get you close. Good luck happy shooting.

I've always used a small torch to loosen the bonding agent on silencers that come glued on. Of course, those are much larger threads, and the trigger screw might loosen with just the soldering iron heat. Since you are dealing with all metal parts, you won't do any damage with more heat, if necessary. I was surprised how much heat it took to get the Weihrauch silencers off the HW100 barrels. That Brocock trigger "second stage" adjustment screw is the sear engagement, so it's not really changing the spring tension. And you have to be very cautious not to decrease the engagement to a point of potential accidental discharges. Just cock it, and give it a few healthy whaps on the butt with something like a rubber mallet to test its safety. I expect it would require a change of springs and some parts polishing to get it much better.

Do the magnet mod. MUCH better trigger. Just ask YO, he has the .177 that I did.

I'm not familiar with this trigger mod.. maybe I can find it using the search.

I used the soldering iron today and it worked! I'm much happier with the trigger now... still isn't a FX trigger but did expect it to be. But a big improvement.

It's burried near the bottom of this link below. You have to be registered to see the pics. I also put a link to the part diagram for the #'s in () Basically you remove the spring (66) that holds the downward pressure on the intermediate lever (67). You then glue a neodymium to the underside of the lever and also glue one under the trigger guard so they align. These magnets are replacing the pressure of the spring. The physics of WHY this works better is because with the spring as you pull the trigger farther, the lever moves farther compressing the spring. The spring tension INCREASES making the trigger get progressively harder as it nears the end of the pull. With the magnets, the farther you pull the trigger the more the lever moves AWAY from the guard (and the other magnetic) so the magnetic "pull" gets weaker, making the trigger get softer as it nears the end of the pull

I have BTB's magnet modded Compatto and trigger feels very nice. I also have 2 Bantams (same trigger as the Compatto) with thousands of shots that seemed to lighten up a lot very close to the magnet modded however the most worn out Bantam's trigger feels lighter figuring 7-8oz from wear and wasn't modded.

I would worry about the trigger sear contact points wearing out and not reliably catching if any metal were deliberately prematurely removed at the sear after a good number of shots are fired IMHO.
