Brocock Compatto Target - Huma Regulated

Does anyone have this rifle? I was handling it at AoA the other day and the soft touch stock felt awesome, as did the bolt action, which felt like it was dampened - and very smooth.

It was sleek and lightweight, as well. A very appealing rifle.

Thought you already have a bantam sniper? Essentially the same gun with a cylinder instead of the bottle, and the handling and shot count differences that brings.

That said I've shot one and it was very nice. Very good accuracy and manners. Nice balance. Not the greatest trigger ever but not bad and it was new out of box with no adjustments done.

Great rifle. I bought an unregulated .177 Compatto a year ago and love it. I had a Huma regulator installed in March. The only negative is it only gets 27 - 30 shots per fill on the reg. I had it out last Friday and got 9 ground squirrels (25-50 yards) at a small farm that I have a permission. I liked it so much I also bought a .177 Bantam - unregulated. I'm planning to have a reg installed this winter. Both are very reliable and fun to shoot.

Yes. I'm thinking about this model as a .177 plinker. My Sniper is a .22.

With the bantam in .177 you really do not need a regulator. Daystate's slingshot hammer system is so good that you will see little or no difference till you get into a .25 or heavy .22's. A lot has been written about the slingshot and it's superb function. I get well over 100 shots of 10.3 JSB's from my bantam set on medium power @910 . Hi power accuracy suffers, medium power accuracy is superb 1/2 inch 10 shot groups at 50 yards all day. Low power is just not low enough to justify using inside barns etc. This gun takes squirrels at 110 yards when the opportunity and winds are calm.

It may not be 'necessary', but since available, wouldn't the Huma reg flatten out the curve even better? Offering at least a mild improvement?

Compatto? Bantam? Is it pretty straight forward installing a Huma in one that doesn't already come that way?

Compatto sells for $700 without Huma and $900 with Huma.

With this availability, it probably would be better to go with Huma from the factory, rather than add one later? (Unless you already have one without the Huma.)

Yeah. Its really easy to do. I think the only issue is the end of the air tube that screws into the gun block can be a pain to remove from the air tube. You need to get that off to remove the o-ring. I searched all over on ways to remove it and what I found was everyone used raw force to do it. Just be careful when you do do it not bugger up the threads to bad. I did so to mine but the damage was so little that it was fine and screwed back on with none of the binding you would think there would be. In fact it still screwed on smooth as butter so no harm was done. I actually used a shirt folded several times around the air tube then clamped it in a vice. I used an old bicycle tube cut and folded over a few times around the threads to protect them from the big pipe wrench I used to break it loose. Honestly though putting the reg is was the easy part. Just a tip on the reg. Tie some fishing line to it that runs the length of the air tube. This way when you need or want to remove the reg all you do is remove the gauge side and grab the fishing line and pull the reg out. Also to degas the airgun just loosen the pressure gauge to bleed the air out.

Thanks for the info. My first choice would be to go with a Compatto which has the Huma installed at the factory. But it’s interesting to learn that installing one is not too difficult.

Yeah, if the compatto came with the huma back when I got it that would of been great. However it did come with the hugget. I dont think that the suppressed compatto comes with a reg but I could be wrong. I know the other has the huma only because it is advertised that way but seems no sound suppressor. Thats what DonnyFL is for.

In any case its a great air rifle.
