Other than changing the trigger springs does anyone have a way to substantially lighten the trigger?

I don't believe you will find a way to safely get it below about 8 ounces. It's a simple design, field trigger.

You should be able to get close to that just by adjusting the rear adjustment screw. But, you will have a very fine sear engagement, and not one I would use in the field.
