Brocock/BRK BRK Sniper Saharas For Sale. Why So Many?

I’m personally biased towards the Brocock Bantam Sniper/BRK Sniper platform. I think it’s an outstanding platform based upon my experience owning a Bantam Sniper HR for years now. I’m curious as to why I’m seeing so many BRK Saharas for sale? Are Sahara owners not enjoying this air rifle? If not, please explain its shortcomings or where you were disappointed. I’m interested in your experiences.

Never had one but I too actually have noticed them surfacing a lot lately. I have looked hard at them a time or too and the one thing that has kept me away is in their price category there are other options that produce a lot more power. I know that isn’t a priority for everyone just my thoughts.

While I don't mind the color at all, obviously some folks do! And maybe for that reason the Sahara has been, in the recent past, the least expensive entry into the Sniper XR line. So perhaps some folks bought their first Sniper XR's in the sand colorway due to the price, and then didn't end up liking the platform. I know one AGN buddy who just can't get along with the semi-bullpup nature of the Sniper.

The other thing, to me (current owner of multiple Sniper XR's, having bought and sold a bunch in the past as well), is the inconsistency of triggers between different guns. Some are really nice, while with others you just can't adjust them to be very good, and would likely have to polish components (something I have not yet had the huevos to attempt). The first Sniper I bought was an XR, and its trigger was fantastic. Some of my friends have bought them on my recommendation, and the triggers were lousy. And if those guns had been my introduction to the Sniper XR, I may have sold it off and never bought another.

And as for the Sonoran, just not as many of them out there (yet). I know that you won't find mine on the used market any time soon. Especially since they are coming with (at least lightly) tuned triggers.

Gents,

Is there a difference mechanically between the Sniper HR’s and the Sniper Saharas (besides some of the older Snipers having a bolt as opposed to a lever)? I thought the only difference was color.

I have a Sahara in .177, and a Sniper HR in .22. I plan on being buried with them.

@Zebra13 Most of same differences between the HR and XR accept that the Saharas are slightly shorter to my recollection.

I have a Commander XR in 177 listed. Nothing wrong with the gun, shoots great, trigger is awesome, no leaks, adjusts easy, the whole nine and zero interest. I'm only selling it because I have an arbitrary limit on the number of guns I'll allow myself to have and I want to try something else. The guns I'm keeping are a Evol and Leshiy2. I've got it listed for half of the cost of a new one which would seem is still too high. I offered it to someone looking to trade for something lower power than a .25 to do pest control in a warehouse. They wanted to know how well it shot slugs so, i dunno.

I've got one in .22cal. It's a freaking laser. I just haven't really gelled with it. I thought I'd like the stock but I'm not the biggest fan of the hand grip portion. It just doesn't feel right in my hand. If I was a wood worker I'd try and make a new stock for it.
I haven't sold mine yet just because of the plethora of them showing up in the classifieds. I'd happily trade mine for what I don't know.
If I were to do it all over again, I think I'd order the new Concept XR in .25 for the changeable grip and the loss of 1lb, even if it is 1/4" longer @ 33" OAL. With hindsight and going back in time I'd have gone for an Atomic XR Carbine for the same reasons.
I'm a hunter first and foremost so length and weight are key factors for me.

That's exactly how I feel about the AA HFT500, great gun, just not my cup of tea.
But the Sniper HR....now I love that gun. I wish I had bought the sand color, but the way mine shoots, I'll keep it black!

Likely because it can’t be tuned to shoot 155mm howitzer projectiles at 2000 fps. I’m sure they are fine rifles for those content with their power capabilities.
I think this has more to do with it than anything. Everyone is chasing more power, which is understandable, but at the end of the day these “set it and forget it” type of rifles sure are nice to just go shoot and hit what you are aiming at.
