N/A BRK pathfinder XR vs FX M4 Compact

I’ve owned my Notos for one year. Love it but ready to step up. I want more power & shot count. Trying to choose between the two. I’m still a novice. Plinking in the yard & popping Igaunas. I like the light wieght, compact designs & shot counts on both. I understand I’m comparing two similar but separate price ranges. Just want to “ pull the band air off” once. Is the FX that far ahead of the BRK ? The high qty mag on the FX is compelling, 28 shots compared to 11. That can be mitigated with additional mags. The power differences I don’t know ? I currently shoot FX Atomic .22. 15.9 pellets with great accuracy. Truth be told, most Igauna shots are within 25 yards or less.
any help here is appreciated.

Pathfinder all day everyday!
much less complicated

I own a Pathfinder XR and a Ghost Carbine XR, which is comparable to the M4 Compact. If I had to choose between the two. The Pathfinder, its lighter and very effective out to 60+ yards. Mine has been stellar, but don’t take my word for it . Am a known BRK fan through their performance afield for me. My latest outing with the Pathfinder…

I am aware of your posts & your love of BRK :). As a metter of fact: After watching Jessica of Iguana Solutions unwrap her new Pathfinder, I decided to do some research. Your comments are a direct reason that the Pathfinder is on my list. I'm going with the Pathfinder. Can you recommend the right .22 pellet use.
- What does the Pathfinder " like" ?
- as mentioned earlier I like the FX Atomic ( JSB Hades), does this one work well ?
- I'm curious to try something heavier for more impact. What can you suggest.
Any input will be helpful.

I have the Ghost, the Atomic, and the Pathfinder and the Commander XR and and... @L.Leon is a bad influence ;)

I received Pathfinder. Needless to say, loving it ! Zeroed the scope & ran through 100 shots before the sun went down. Like a kid with a new toy ! Seems like 90 shots on full power before it fell off the register. Extremely accurate even for a novice like me. Hitting Nickle sized target clusters at 40 yards . Its well balanced & easy to handle. The JSB Extra 18's seem to work well. I'm just getting used to it & need to test/ learn hold overs. Can anyone ( L.Leon ) help me on this, my backyard limits me to 45 yards. I'm wondering at what distance (on full power) will I notice the .22 18's pellets start to drop off ? Currently 20 yards to 45 yards is perfect zero. I'm curious when the hold over may start ? One issue that surprised me, unless I am counting shots ( 11 per mag) I have no idea when the mag is empty. My only clue was when I see no dent in the target & hear that unmistakable sound of an empty chamber ;) . To help with this I made a mark on the out index ring that will indicate I'm on the last pellet. My magazines from the Notos have a stop point in which the lever will stop when trying to index a pellet ( this indicates no pellets left).
Can anybody speak this ? Wondering if the aftermarket Maple magazines I have on order will be different ?

First, congratulations on your Pathfinder XR and the fact that you are happy with it. And more importantly, that it is performing to your expectations. As for holdovers? With any particular pellet it is going to depend on your initial Zero POI. If I recall correctly on my Pathfinder Zeroed at 25 yards with CPHPs, am using a half MIL of HO at 40 yards and 1 Mil at 50 yards. Your results will vary from mine. Just shoot it a lot and you’ll form your own conclusions…🙏 Keep us all posted on your ongoing journey with that sweet lil Pathfinder XR.
