Brocock/BRK BRK Ghost Slug gun

Ok guys I was able to get to the indoor range after work and I got some initial numbers and some groups. This was just an initial shooting to see the velocities and some short range groups. Range is indoors and was shooting at the pistol range which only goes out to about 20 yards. So nothing extremely far by any means, but I was after some numbers to start with, and something to grow from. Barrel is a 3 Groove from TJ that Thammer did up for me. Also using one of Orions mags, and I am really enjoying these! As they have the last round stop and they are stupid simple to reload.

Now for some numbers..........

Base line I used the FX 25.4 grain pellets

Fx Pellets 25.4 grains
Power wheel at 12
Average 976 FPS
Spread 7 FPS
STD 2.1 FPS

A heck of a "standard" if you look at the numbers, but then looking at the group it isn't anything to be upset at. This is the group in the center of the target.

Then we went to slugs to see what would happen. I will say that all of the slugs went into the barrel MUCH smoother than they did at the last outing. Who would have guessed that a breech seal would make things much nicer!

Javelin .218 26 grain slugs
Power wheel at 10
Average 964 FPS
Spread 25 FPS
STD 7.7 FPS

Javelin .218 30 grain slugs
Power wheel at 10
Average 892 FPS
Spread 44 FPS
STD 12.1 FPS

Javelin .218 30 grain slugs
Power wheel at 12
Average 911 FPS
Spread 19 FPS
STD 7.1 FPS

Corbin 34 grain ( these are the slugs that I am shooting out of my HM1000X )
Power wheel at 12
Average 847 FPS
Spread 38 FPS
STD 12.2 FPS

Corbin 34 grain
Power wheel at MAX
Average 874 FPS
Spread 39 FPS
STD 11.4 FPS

Corbin 27 grain
Power wheel at 12
Average 905 FPS
Spread 97 FPS
STD 31.1 FPS

I didn't like this one. And while I was sitting and talking with the RO it dawned on me.... I went from MAX power down to 12. So I went ahead and did another string of 10 shots to see if this was a fluke or actual numbers

Corbin 27 grain
Power wheel at 12
Average 932 FPS
Spread 30 FPS
STD 8.9 FPS

Much better, but I still think that these will be able to do better with some more tuning and playing.

Corbin 25.5 grain X-Punch Flat Base
Power wheel at 12
Average 957 FPS
Spread 11 FPS
STD 3.5 FPS

Again these were all shot at around 20 yards, so nothing long range about them. But it was able to give me a good enough insight on what the barrel is doing. I am also going to play with some weights as well to see if I can't get an EXACT weight for the slugs. Thammer did say that he was shooting around 26 grain or less slugs at 940 fps . I did go a little higher to see what will work, and I am glad that some of them did.

As soon as the rain settles down up here I am going to get some 50 yard and 100 yard groups from the barrel.
