Brick wall? (Opinion)

I am wondering if we are seeing an end to exciting pellet designs. A lot of people (including myself) seem to be interested in the JSB Hades is various calibers, and of course there are the slug posts for those itching to see the latest in who/when/where mass-produces the next offering... But has the pellet design thing been born out at this point?

It just feels like unless someone mass-markets a heavy alternative to lead (depleted Uranium anyone? ), then we still kind of circle the wagons with offerings (especially in smaller calibers). Anyone else feel this way?

All that stuff is great for its intended purpose but it is very pricey. I can and will shoot slugs every once in a while. But overall I bought a "Pellet" gun. So for me it will be the very boring but accurate diablo pellet. It does almost everything i need it to. I would be interested in something other than lead if it was as accurate and priced the same. I always have a little worry after feeding a few hundred pellets in my condor ss. My thumb is black and shiny with lead.

I think the best selling pellets will be the ones manufactured to the tightest tolerances. Wadcutters for 10 meter have more exacting tolerances than domes. I would like to se domes get better weight consistency and head size in every tin. If it can be done with wadcutters, why not of ALL pellets mfg. I would pay extra for any "premium" offering.

A person could always try making wooden pellets. A WWII vet once told me the Germans used wooden bullets in their pistols sometimes toward the end of the war because they were so short on metal. .25 cal might be easiest in the U.S., if someone wanted to give it a try making some using a dowel. 20mm might be easier outside the U.S. I'd probably try oak or maple. Something harder than the junk wooden dowels you find in most stores. I'm not sure it'd be feasible for mass production, though, with the way the environmentalists have successfully made wood so sacred these days. They'd go real fast (velocity), but with very little penetration. Same as with the bullets he told me about.
