Breech Oring Alternatives?

My S45 absolutely loves NSA 196gr slugs, shoots them with amazing accuracy and great fps/fpe. However since they’re oversized they’ll throw out the breech oring. Would it be possible to make a similar breech seal out of whatever, say, valve poppets are made out of(I think this would be peek plastic?)? My guess is no since orings need to give some amount of “squish” to seal. This isn’t a big issue since other ammo works good as well but I’d love to hear from the experts.

Anything is possible with enough time, tools, and money. That said the deformation to get the breech seal into its groove seems problematic in a peek or acetyl material. Perhaps there's a Teflon oring out there that could be made to work, or a different duro meter and material in the correct size for you. My mrod 25 used to blow breech orings when it was new 15 years ago, and it just stopped doing it one day.

I wish all manufacturers would make the switch and put the breech o ring on the pellet probe.

I used a lee press and sizing dies to size some ammo .356 for my s45/357.
You could try taking .001 off your .45 nsa slugs. Here's an example of a custom die i just found. You would need to measure the nsa slugs and verify they are 457. A lee press is like $45 and you also need lee alox slug lube $15.

I wouldn’t know enough engineering wise to say why they do barrel oring vs probe, I feel like the friction, seal, alignment etc would be the same assuming design/build quality is up to snuff. From a user standpoint though it’s much easier to change them off the probe, I had a gun with probe orings and it’s much easier to change them that way.
