Break Barrel Rifle Stopped Working

Hello. I have a Crosman Stealth that hasn't been used in while. Pulled it out yesterday, fired maybe a dozen shots and then the barrel wouldn't break anymore and a small plastic U shaped piece fell out of the rifle. I took the stock off and I am now able to break the barrel but the part that looks like it engages the spring never moves. This is my first air rifle and I have never taken it apart before but I am assuming when the barrel breaks the spring is supposed to be compressed?

Is this something I can fix or does it need to be replaced. Anything I can look for?

Thanks.

If your rifle is similar to my Shockwave(as far as the internal cocking mechanism) and it probably is! The small U shaped piece is a guide for the cocking link. You won't be able to cock the rifle with the stock off because the stock holds a bearing assy. in the proper position so it can be cocked! Try looking up a manual of your rifle and it may have a diagram of how your rifle goes together. Hope this helps, good luck!!

So it appears what's happening is that I am having such a hard time cocking it, that the part (referred to as a bearing assy in the above post) is slipping past the stock making it so the barrel folds but the spring does not get engaged. I applied some oil to the moving parts and it seemed to help slightly. Would not putting oil in the compression chamber cause this? I have never oiled it (my bad). Is there an alternative to the crosman brand oil that one might already have at home?

Thanks again.

I was able to successfully cock and fire the rifle but it was very difficult. Immediately after the bushing on the lever assembly was out of the grove on the stock that holds it in. I also noticed that the lever assembly is slightly out of center. It has a little bit of a curve to it, which I am guessing is not normal. I just dont know if the spring is what is making this hard to cock, or the parts that engage the spring.
