A steroid 392 really is pretty close to ideal for that role. They're light, rugged, powerful and self-contained. It's really too bad they didn't come with dovetails and a threaded muzzle. I've been searching for the best multi-pump rifle for awhile now and so far it's the Steroid 392.

The crosman 362 is really the best, it’s easier to pump, easier to work on, and you can mod the ever loving world out of it.

Not to mention they are cheap and super lite, I got one on order now, perfect companion to my 1322, and 1377, the use 100% all the same internals.

Hatsan 25 pistol in 22 cal. Mine shoots accurately to take a squirrel or rabbit at 20 yards. Mine shoots 14.3-grain pellets at 550 fps. Inexpensive. Hard to cock.

Beeman P1 can't be beat in 177, if you go pistol..30 yards and a rail fence with empty 22 brass lined up and they don't have a chance..600 fps.. if you are going rifle Diana 34 or 48..

or did you mean a week and a freak storm?.
I'd see them dying miserable in a year as doing well, myself I used to backpack and horse pack and I am well versed in outdoorsman ship.. but stuff goes just as wrong if not worse out there.. sprained ankle, bear got your food,if you don't have what you are doing or worse, had a friend who left just a small candy in his pants pocket..he was lucky bear in one swipe took out the side of the tent, sleeping bag and his pants pocket and he was amazingly untouched, rattlers, bad water, you ever get geardia drinking from a pipe spring out of the hill? you'll wish you were in town and in the middle of a riot and got shot dead.. most people don't get it..

If your in a city , right , If you survive getting out of the city far enough ,you still most likely will not survive past a year or so . personally i do not worry about it , i will not last more than a few months without medications . other than that i have plenty of ammo to target shoot and hunt and a lake full of water and buckets to keep the toilet working hahaha . i will stay put right here ;

I'll die the first night without my electric blanket because I don't make heat.. hypothermia.. thyroid issues and yes I sleep with it on during the summer, before we had power backup when the power went out Mom would pile the comforters so tall that I couldn't move and if shiver all night.. with the wood stove going and the house 80.. not to mention the meds..

Us older guys put our age down because we don't give a damn .lol
We grew up shooting the buck then Crossman 760 then if you had a paper route a Benjamin , and if your Dad , or Grandpa lovEd you they helped the kid get a Sheridan.

oldvet..if I was to choose a survival rifle and I was not recoil sensitive.. Diana 48 in 22 caliber..
if I was to choose a pistol Beeman P1 in 177.. if both.. then both in 177 and JSB beast pellets..
otherwise honestly I'd grab my bag of a brick of 22 LR, strap on my Bearcat and Henry Golden boy and likely grab a few boxes of 22 short CB and a couple boxes of aguila colibri ammo in case I need quiet..
now that's only good for me for protection, and if I had a meat eater friend or meet one.. but I taught wildlife survival, so hopefully I can find and more importantly remember what I can and can't eat.
I don't remember the name but there's a movie that is true about a guy in Alaska who died way out in the woods in a bus..

ok I'll tell you all my secret..y2k.. you remember..I lived far from here in the high Sierra mountains in California South of Yosemite.. I planted a extra large garden, we were on solar so no issues pumping water.. helped a friend over the ridge basically start his farm..he still runs it today and sells produce..
I'm vegetarian.. happened to know a cave that I'm sure the only other thing that knows about it is a bear.. stashed some very long term food in a crevice nearby..
very rugged area and water not too far away..
but then I thought about my friends.. bought a stainless steel Marlin bolt action and a half dozen magazine.. and a army ammo box full of 22 LR..
plan was I'd be fine but likely not my friends... deer all over so 22 and they would hopefully be able to make it into dinner..

fortunately y2k passed without a glitch and I had a little extra of my favorite corn on the cob..
I wasn't too worried about it but lots of my friends were.. so the rifle so they would hopefully be able to make dinner.. I'm not butchering that thing...

yes I'm days away from the cave, food, firestarter and survival stuff still there.. but I have the rifle and ammo.. hopefully if it is ever needed someone will find the cave..I told a few friends when I moved out of the state.

oh and the lightest is the 34 and I forgot to mention the Diana 350..
I'd recommend 22 as it handles wind better

if you are good with a pistol.. you can't beat the Beeman P1 in 177.. will do exactly what you need and it's only 12" long

I like my HW95. It's not too heavy, is very accurate and has enough power to take most small game out to 50 and under. I never put a scope on it for the purpose of keeping it light. I think it's about 7lbs. It's my first .20 cal. I like it. As for bugging out, I'll just defend where I'm at till the end. I can imagine the woods getting crowded lol and I'm a little too old to be a ridge runner.
