BR Sub 12 100 yard challenge.... shots across the pond.

Fancy a frustrating challenge?

I did a bit of an adjustment on the target, moved them apart a bit.....So what I think, if you over shoot (as I have too many times difficult to see POI sometimes ) as per norm outer to inner scoring. if you cross the line on your group then that counts as a shot on your score target.

Super frustrating fun, Shoot as many cards as you like too....All good practice and data collecting.

Fantastic Penchetta yes please!

With many countries we have to make the best of what our laws allow.

I love a bit of innovation, So any little tips and tricks your happy to share then please go ahead....We are all part of the air community!

This worked really well yesterday in the rain.....Put your cards in a plastic file binder sleeve, Plus this is a good way of collecting data for tunes set up's and projectiles and keep them in a binder!

As per norm the honer code....(You only cheat yourself at the end of the day) Don't forget....A miss is not a miss...It's good data!

What you are using set up wise and weather conditions.....HAVE FUN!!!!!!

The bar has been set low....Low power low wind some ok shots but like that school report card..Could do better!

Impact .177 and the trusted well used AA 8.4gr washed but pretty much out the tin, Not the way I roll to be fair. Every little helps in the sub club.

Did a quick in field tune...After swopping out the .22 .....Again could do better! Lol

After a retune and tweak, Such a fine line between good velocity and getting your wrist slapped/cuffed.... Ho hum crack on and make the best of what you got I say.

Alas no time between R&D and testing to sort lead out, So just washed and not sorted....Which is getting more frustrating than putting a group target next to a score target Lol (challenge in a challenge for me) This makes a huge difference in the sub club, As I see it it's like gold in a river, Very lazy and will drop out at the first opportunity.

So couple more cards shot after a better home tune rather than a field one, She was all over the place( 35 yard before and after 10 shot groups)

I didn't bother scoring due to a couple of drifters, but as it was a more test than focused trigger time its just good data. Plus I am doing pest control at the same time....So we can multi task ladies! Lol.

That’s really good shooting, sub 12lb at 100 yards! I like to shoot my FX Royal .177 at long distance in winter so I can see the pellet hits in the snow clumps on tree branches. Never tried it at 100 yards on paper though. I definitely plan on trying this game so I can see how I do. I’ll need to find out if my Royal on low power is sub 12lb. I badly need a chrony. Thanks for sharing, interesting post.

Thank you bro, good of you to say. And you are most welcome, Always happy to share my findings too. All about going forwards. Great, Pleased you like it...I was beginning to think...Lol Frustrating fun i'm calling it.....I would say up to 17 joules or it becomes not what peeps are using in some country's, But the French roll with around 20 I think?

Field shooting is great for pick up trace or POI, I like doing BR night shooting, Nice calm conditions...( Whole different dynamics involved there,I can go down that rabbit hole too deep) Great to see your hot lead trace!!!

Have some frustrating fun!

Stig

Davelarson a crony is a must bro, So many super sweet spots to be found, But be warned it can take you right down the rabbit hole!

When you do, dig a bit deeper and get the FX Crony.....The data that is sent to your device is like gold bro!!!!! And be warned again, If you have a partner....Make sure you pamper them to get crony brownie points!!!!! 😂 It can be a long road....

Long roads are worth going down from time to time.....Like this one I find myself on...(again) But wow is all I can say(still taking all the data in)...after a week of tweaking.. This bad boy is Sub MOA Sub 12ft @ 100 yards!!!!!

Obversely it didn't stop there, After a hell weekend of light to moderate winds too nothing at all then back to and so on, 9 MOA R at one point!!! This frustrating challenge just got super interesting on many fronts for me.

So Sundays shoot....150 Yards then! Nightmare seeing POI so I just held on and went for the challenge (as you do!) This is just crazy!!!! Sub MOA sub 12ft out at 150 Yards!!!! Must go down this rabbit hole more me thinks!!! As a one shot dude in the field I like to collect up the lead(environment and lead impact study) very handy to know what does what at what range..Another rabbit hole that one!

So I stuck 4 3 inch react targets up and shot some groups......Ps Sorry about the grubby thumb! Lol

I didn't put up a pic of the full board plus what I was using. Air Arms 8.4 gr .177 Sub 12ft Impact....With a Stig CCM super tune and some tweaks and mods of course!

I shot a card tonight from 19.00 with JSB's 10 grain out at 150 again, just to see what was what....But ran out of light for this test....But Dialled 58 MOA held over 4.5 and 3.5 MOA L with half to 1 MOA hold.

Another quick side note too, I haven't given Michael the stuff he needs to introduce me yet...Sorry Michael just sorting the banner and bits out!!!!!

So, obviously I’ve been watching your posts. As I’ve been making my own with a rifle that’s on the other end of the spectrum from a power standpoint.

It looks like I went down this road about 10 years ago, based on the dates of the targets. I spent a summer trying to shoot a half inch group with a 12 ft pnd FWB Junior, with the big BSA on it (60X).

You can see this is two different sessions from the targets. I’m going to apologize in advance for the condition of the targets in the picture. I was out of paper, and I was using tissue paper that I stole out of the Christmas wrap box. If you look close and zoom in you can see the impacts. It was such a blast sitting and watching a little groups form.

I never did shoot a half inch group. As you can see I had two in the fives, no fours. I saw that you actually had a four, I am extremely impressed.

The groups are hard to read, you can trust my measurements, I used an electronic caliper. They were originally quite easy to see before I sealed them in plastic.

I tried going out to 150, and it was a mess. Shooting at tin cans was OK, but trying to shoot groups…a mess

have fun

mike

Very cool Mike, Loving your doing the other end of this... Real interesting fun I'm thinking...Thank you for saying, I'm still blown away what this little .177 space dust projectile can do, I'm still scratching that itch...And it's becoming a bigger one. I still have loads of testing to do, but whilst doing this another interesting concepts are popping up. so I will take so time out of work and do a full focus mission. I have a better testing range now, as the one before had too much going on... Hunt hounds and horse exercise, also a footpath near by and all that jazz you don't need. Funny as, I competed in last years EBR Lockdown 9.5 and not only was it crazy wind conditions but the hounds were out too.

Just in from getting back on the 100....Nice holes, But super rubbish wind switching dropping all that fun!

But wow, Just got even tighter out @ 100 yards....You can see the switches but what is helping loads is dry wall edging for POI....I sprayed it with white appliance paint and screwed it to the very peppered wooden frame, So the POI gives a nice glint, So then I walk up and pop an orange dot on the last shot and white dot the others. Working really well until they kept nipping between the A4 card and target stand. Lol Slight adjustment needed there.

Interesting find whilst I was doing some field crony work, try and pin point a few good happy pellet impacts, There was a hammer creep on the middle group target. I fired in succession on a super light breeze, Really cool to see the snake of impact holes but frustrating as I didn't know what was going on at the time after a fat hole on the bottom target was an in the bag deal I thought!!!. So keep an eye on that bad boy me thinks!

New backstop skip fished and repurposed...The way forwards I think Ha ha....Tested @ 60 yards and working really well...Needing a bit of weight loss next. Lol Loving the lead catch gutter! Nice 125 degree cross wind 3-5 mph around 6.5 gust dialed 5R with 1.25 MOA hold for the gusts.....I shot the score rings first as the wind was a relatively constant 3 mph with the odd little gust. Super cool couple of hours but I feel the 2.1 backstop will be made very soon. Lol
