Boyd’s thumbhole stock for Texan LSS

I’ve been asked by a couple members about the stock on my Texan LSS. Sometime back I noticed a Boyd’s Marauder Featherlight on their clearance page. I was pretty sure the Gen 1 tube was the same as the AirForce Frame so I bought it. To make it work I had to extend the 1.25” bed through end of the butstock. Then I used my Table saw and a dado blade to cut the grove for the bottom rail.

From there I used a series of carving burrs to cut in for the tank and the slot for the trigger guard. I’m going to mill another stock for my condor and when t do I will make fixtures to use a router to do the heavy work. I would love to have Boyd’s offer a drop-in, their finish is much better than my DIY finish. The pistol grip has to be reformed on the Marauder conversion which along with the other mods requires refinishing the stock. It would be well worth the money if we could just order one from them.

If you compare the Featherweight and Blaster, take note of the location of the hole in relation to where the trigger guard sits. Just looking at the photos of the two models and comparing them with my stock, I think the Blaster might not require carving of the pistol grip. That may mean it can be done with out having to refinish? I to like the Blaster’s lines.
