FX Boss Massive Air Leak

I fully agree with @Trucker3573
A new valve seat and valve should have fixed it.
Thoughts from a non-expert:
- The valve seat may not be fully inserted or could be installed backwards
- No insult intended, but was the work area clean or could a foreign substance have fouled things up
- Is the hammer spring turned into at or near maximum
If so, the hammer at rest could be pushing the valve open

Again
No insult intended
Here is an Ernest Rowe video about valve install for the platform

I'll be watching along with Aaron

Good luck

I am trying to get a Boss to seal. The air pours out the transfer port any attempt to fill. Like there is nothing between the regulator and the barrel.

Replaced the poppet and valve seat orings
Replaced the poppet and valve seat.

What else can it be?
@Ratzy Shot in the dark here. Did you cock your Boss before attempting to fill it?

@Gerry52 Any ideas here Gerry?

I had the same thought that possibly the seat wasn’t fully seated. I know they have to be pushed into place with a bit of force.

It may have suffered the dreaded FX poppet pin peening if dry fired or with low pressure.
Hammer strikes the end of poppet pin guide boss preventing poppet stem from coming threw all the way, or has fit so tight poppet can't close.
Pulled the hammer too.
I'll go through the orings again maybe i had a bad one.

Poppet needs to be 100% free as is slides in to seat under its own weight and can fall out equally easy ... FYI

It does not appear to come through far enough for the hammer to strike.

Both poppets and both valve seats show the same thing.

So I pulled the valve seat and the poppet still isnt fully in the hole.

Something appears to hold the poppet back a few mm. But the channel it goes in looks clear.

There it is ... peened at the end from a hammer strike slightly closing end of the stem hole.

If having access to a machinists starter drill in @ the 1/8" diameter, it CA glued into a short piece of K&S 1/8" I.D. brass tubing you place this self made extension drill down threw receiver from the hammer bore and gently twisting this drill place a small chamfer on the edge of the pin hole which removed the peened edge that is creating the issue.

Or any other creative miens to clean up end / I.D. edge of the poppet stem hole

Barrel is out.
This is an issue between the poppet and transfer port. Air flows direct from whip out the transfer port. It appears something is holding the poppet open. There should be a stub from the end of the poppet visible in the cross hole. The hammer has to strike that stub to open the poppet.

I just can't see what is keeping the poppet from seating.

One of the poppet is brand new and never been hit by the hammer. Other than the black ring it appears identical to the original.

I'm wondering if this is the one recently on classifieds with a Dreamline barrel.
@Gerry52 @Ratzy Does the brass piece around the breech come out with the barrel when you pull it?
I don't see the brass piece on end of barrel in the picture. It's what seals end of barrel in breech & guides magazine fit. Is this a new purchase or owned for a while? I get it, probably disassembled in pic. Duh!View attachment 566774

Yep, but the barrel should have nothing to do with the poppet seating
Agreed but one never really knows what the last owner/experimenter might have altered. I inquired about the ad but couldn't get info from seller as I was told he "wasn't a shooter". It was a kinda red flag for me.
