Bored: Testing loudness of a Yong Heng using an air filter versus no air filter

Got bored, it's summer, and I'm bored :)

Here's an air filter I made for my Yong Heng out of a caulk tube. Revision 1 was a bit buggy, I knocked it off, and threading a vinyl caulk tube proved too hard and the threads were not strong enough.

Revision 2 didn't work too well either, I threaded the black high-temp plastic connection through the caulk tube which resulted in insufficient threading into the head.

Revision 3 you can see below. I even wrapped it in some HVAC foil tape for maximum "This is totally metal" effect.

Anyway -- may I present -- the loudness as perceived by machines and extrapolated to human ears as measured in anechoic chambers. The measuring device was 3 US feet away and 2 US feet high to the opposite side of the air intake.

An actual home-constructed air filter (in Yong Heng speak, known as a "muffler" and usually a brass sintered connection):

Without an air filter:

The air filter (seals nicely honestly, placing your hand over it results in some hermetically sealed pain, lol):
