Guys,
I woke up this morning and did some spring cleaning, got to the pool and there is a hole in the pool cover. Not a hole done by mother nature but instead one of her little minions. There was an acorn trapped under the pool cover and the little pest has to chew through it to get to the nut. My heart skipped a beat, cover was about $4K. Needless to say, I had to get my revenge! all within the past hour of this post! Happy Easter guys!

Yes I did, the .22 marauder. I have since sighted her in, all yardage holds have been charted and nothing is safe within 80 yards. I did put the baffles in to tone her down a bit and didn't notice any loss of accuracy. My 7 Year old was kind of opposed to me dispatching these little critters. Now her exact words are, "OK Daddy, you can kill them now!" Haha. Nothing holding me back now.

Marco! It's all out war, First thing when I get home is look out the window for them pesky critters. Past 2 days I have not seen any squirrels, but then again it's about 7pm here on the East Coast and they are in their nest already, but from time to time I get a straggler and smack! That's all she wrote. There was a chipmunk but by the time I opened up the window he scurried away.

Damn, Boom; you're making me homesick now. I grew up in rural Pennsylvania (Susquehanna Valley). Nothing but endless woods and open fields, with the occasional babbling brook or pond. A target-rich environment, to say the least. It's nothing but scrub desert down here on the border in Commiefornia; slim pickins. (But at least small game hunting with air guns is legal.) I envy you, my man :). Those critters better git while the gittin' is good. Come Saturday, there's gonna be a new sheriff in town by the name of Impact!

I was wondering how the little bastage knew that the lump under the cover was an acorn. With the pics I can see it is a breathable membrane. I too spent a lot of money on my pool cover back in the day until one day my wife and I were trying to lay it out as a storm was coming. A gust of wind got under it and lifted the wife, who had hold of a corner, about ten feet in the air. Luckily she held on and got back to earth in a few seconds. We laughed once the adrenalin had subsided. After that I just gave up and resigned myself to cleaning the pool all winter. But then, we lived in Texas.

I hope that the manufacturer of your cover sells materials for patching such contingencies.

Prior to placing the pool cover, the floor was clean of all debris and then put in place. When placed the cover of pretty tight to the floor. I figure one pest decided to use it as shelter and make his way in under the cover and house a nut. Either way I am more determined to rid my area and my neighbors area of all pest. They have granted me permission to take any four legged critter that I see for from their yards. That affords me about 86 yards of a semi target rich environment. 

As for the cover I have contacted the pool guy and he said he would take a look at it when it's time to open up the pool. Fingers crossed.
