New chronos may render it obsolete, but shooting a chronograph (or at least the screen) is / was just part of the learning curve for serious shooters.

Another Chrony killer! There should be a law against that. ;^) I have shot mine three times thus far but it still lives so I have not joined the infamous Chrony Killer group yet. I got a new face plate sticker too so nobody could see the evil deed I had done.

OUCH!!! but I know how you feel.
After 30 years of owning 4 different chronographs I finally shot one which is my current one. It's $500 Oehler 35P, and well to be more exact I shot the far sky screen mount which is plastic. I was in a hurry and didn't shoot it off the table like I would normally so I was "estimating", lol.
I thought, darn man that's probably gonna cost me a couple hundred bucks. Nope the part was $10 + shipping! Awesome!

BTW Labradar with microphone highly recommended no need to place 2 separate chronys at the muzzle and at the target see AEAC videos.

Prochrono will replace the unit for less than retail-At least they did when my buddy shot his the first day he used it. Give them a call and see what they might do. He later made a Lexan shield for his and was kind enough to make one for me too!

Yup, I called them and I will be taking advantage of that replacement from ProChrono. Mine was a basic digital version and I'll be replacing it with the bluetooth enabled version. I've been getting pretty tired of transcribing the data from my paper notes to MS Excel. This will be a nice upgrade

Still have my first chrony and yes it has a nice hole and massive dent in it lol. The only one I've shot so far and yep it was pretty much brand new when I did it.
