So mine is the 7th edition. Should I spring for a new 12th edition?

The newest edition is supposed to be out next year, if you wanna wait that long...

one reason is many gun should have been added, new information could have been updated and the prices could have changed from your edition 7 to the new edition 13

and as stated they will not be out till spring, from the email I had gotten back from them
