Daystate Blackwolf owners discussion

Na…4 shots for me tells the story. As stated pellets has its limits.

Some pellets will do just fine out to at least 75 meters 👍😃🎯

Some bore cleaning questions, relating to BoreSnakes.

1. Do I have to take the barrel off every time to use the BoreSnake, or is there a way to do it with the barrel on the rifle?

2. Will the brass bristles on the BoreSnake harm the breach o-ring? I have the Viper version.
Unless your barrel is fouled i would not remove it... i would just use a pull through. I use a 5 mm straw for my .177 barrel and insert it into the muzzle end and pull the patch from the breech to the muzzle.
I will add that i had my .25 Barrel polished and prepped at AOA and it is quite the shooter.
Normans .177 wasn't dirty at all when received and the pull through patches were pretty clean and it shoots just as accurate as my .25 out to 55 yards.

.22 with 23" barrel. My 1st Daystate arrived yesterday and I'm just getting to know her a little today. Seems to like AEA 25g and JSB 25g Jumbo Monsters so far. Very refined action and the trigger is another one I would put up there with my Evol, Taipan and Raw. I don't know what to think about the safety yet although it works fine. It's awkward to reach it with my trigger hand's thumb trying to wrap around the grip. Small potatoes!

Congrats on your new rifle! I have a similar config, .22 23". Those are my main pellets as well (the JTS version, same weight and shape). I'm still tinkering but I've found 915-930 is a good speed, which I achieve with 130 reg and 17 power, *white spring*. I'm currently experimenting with 140 reg, might try something lower later on, but procrastinating on the degassing.

One thing to keep an eye on, I've discovered that my barrel really ilkes to be clean, and these pellets dirty it up pretty quickly.

About the safety, I agree with you that it's awkward. I picked up a stubby safety to replace the round placeholder. I tried using the stubby on the right side (right-hand shooter), but I ended up putting the regular long safety on the right and the stubby on the left. Yes, my finger touches it in firing position, but I've found that for bench work I can use more of a pinching hand position on the trigger, which keeps the rest of my finger away from the safety switch.

Interesting. My reg gauge "shows" 115b. At power wheel 10 it is pushing these pellets at 950FPS. 50FPE!!! Minimum on the wheel puts it at 930FPS. I don't know what spring is in mine but it included a Red spring in the accessory bag. I wonder if it's a blue? My barrel was filthy upon arrival and so was the shroud.

I would say it's almost definitely the blue spring in there, but that math still doesn't add up for me. Weird! Someday I will test the same tune and see if I can duplicate it.

Betting a blue IPA it’s a blue spring

When I removed the CF shroud its inner surface was caked with lead dust as well as the outer surface of the barrel. Nothing a little Ballistol couldn't remedy. The inside of the barrel took six wet patches before pulling clean.
Oddly - this suggests that a high number of rounds passed through your BW?

I’m in agreement concerning the safety. I may have someone print me a custom thingamajig
