Daystate Blackwolf owners discussion

I'm just switching to the blue spring right now, in fact. I had a bit of an adventure because the white spring came out without the white plastic bit! Fortunately I had a slim tool with a hook on the end so I could eventually fish it out. I'm lucky, because it was lodged in there well enough to not shake out!

Let this be a lesson to everyone, make sure your spring indicators are nice and centered, I guess.

I couldn't switch back to white fast enough.

I was getting a spread of 10-20 fps with the blue spring, where the white was closer to 100. Red and blue seemed almost the same to me, to the point where I wonder if someone screwed up in the factory.

White won't get me above 945 fps but the sweet spot for my pellets is 920 anyway, so I'm good.

Did you drop reg to 100 when you tried the spring? I just set up 1 of my ghosts in 22 its at 130 bar pw 15 red spring 23” barrel 960 fps for 25.3 gr pw on min 880fps. 1023 with 18 gr on min i would have to go blue spring to get the 18 velocity down

Yep, I did just that, dropped it to 100. The starting spread was around 20 and it got tighter as I increased the regulator.
Oh well seems the ports are just too large on the blackwolf and you have to really go to the extreme to use less than max power. Not only is it expensive they made it so its not as tunable as the ghost.

Some people just don't like bullpups, it's so awkward to shoulder compared to traditional stocks. I first started with bullpups, then bought my first traditional stock with the BW which feels so much better to shoulder as opposed to crunching the arms and shoulder together. Being an electronic adds another layer of complexity as well for most...though I'm looking really hard at the Red Wolf right now...

Why I’m quite baffled by the seeming low interest in the DW platform. Set the reg somewhere in the ballpark and let the electronics do it for you. Much easier.
For me i have absolutely no interest in an electronic gun. I’ve had 2 redwolves and will never have another. I now have 3 ghosts and love them. I haven’t shot the 22 much but found a tune for 25 gr that shot very well but am trying to find a tune now to see if i can help others to go from 18-25 gr that is useful. I personally have no intrest in 18 25 is where its at for me

Mine also came with two. Red in the gun and blue in the case. I went to AoA in person last week and asked them about it. They gave me the white one for free (YMMV). I also got a short safety switch to replace the little round dot, because I like it better. That item might be in limited supply.
I went on a pilgrimage to AOA a couple of years ago, nice store and nice people. Almost bought a Red Wolf that day.

What's a good speed for.22 JSB 25 MRD with LW barrel from daystate?

I’ve had great experiences with electro guns. Actually the AW/DW platform is far far ahead of the redwolf in my opinion. Much more easily adjusted to exactly what you want. However reluctance to them is not uncommon evidenced by how hard they seem to be to sell in the classifieds.
