Birchwood Bore Scrubber for FX Crown Barrel Cleaning

Hello guys,

I purchased a Birchwood Bore Scrubber to cleaning lead fouling in the barrel.

I have used it several times so far and it has high cleaning power.

I've two questions:

1. Does using Birchwood Bore Scrubber hurt the inside of FX Smooth Twist X Barrel or not? (Does anyone have experience using it?)

2. I still couldn't clear part of the lead fouling at the end of the barrel after using it a few times! (I mean the last three centimeters of the barrel), what's your suggestion for it?

Never used the Birchwood. But i see on the can it says copper and nitro fouling. You have a lead problem. If you brush, pull the liner as to not damage the O ring. Clean from the breach end. And make a full pass. Dont change direction with the brush in the barrel. It wont harm your barrel. If your comfortable, i recommend polishing your liner. It will cur down on lead building up on the choke and cut down on cleaning intervals.

Lead is also mentioned on the bottle, however can I use it?

Me personally, I'd pull the liner so none came in contact with any o rings. If it removes plastic fouling, I wouldn't think it would be good for the breach o ring

Yes, you are right, this matter mentioned on the bottle and I just clean the inside of the barrel without any contact with the o-rings. I want to know this solvent does not damage the metal surface inside of the barrel???

Ive never had to use more than ballistol and cotton pull throughs to get mine spotless. But i honestly don't see how that product would damage the steel liner, depends how you agitate it. Want to be on the safe side use a nylon brush id guess.

Thank you Glem, I'll test the nylon brush 👌
But about the Brichwood Bore Scrubber and its effects I have to say that I have no other solvent like Ballistol to use, so it is important for me to know that this solvent is suitable for the inside of the barrel(Especially STX liner) cleaning or not?!

I ask you and other friends and experts to share their experiences with me.
Thank you in advance guys🙏

I've used some pretty strong stuff on centerfire rifles for bore cleaning but I personally wouldn't use any such type cleaner around my PCP's. Too many o-rings and too difficult to keep that stuff contained unless, as note above, you remove the liner (or barrel) for cleaning. JMO, and it might work great for you.

I personally understood after 500 rounds the accuracy of the gun is disturbed but after cleaning, everything is fine. I have tested this issue over and over again.
For best result, I have to use both mechanical and chemical methods.
The chemical method is use of the solvents like Birchwood Bore Scrubber and the mechanical method is use the wad/felt and the nylon wire.

I heard good things about Birchwood Bore Scrubber but I still don't know it's useful for FX STX liners or not? And is there a harmful substance in this solvent that eventually destroys the metal surface of the inside of barrel ?!

In the cleaning I never leave the solvent in the barrel for a long time, after each use of the solvent, I immediately dry it with a dry cloth and I just clean the inside of the barrel without any contact with the o-rings.
With these condition, do you still suggest that I should not use this product?
If the Birchwood Bore Scrubber damages the metal surface of the inside of barrel, I will certainly not use it.
