Morning dawned with snowing and cold conditions in Indiana this morning, so back to the indoor range and RX targets. The RX set up as shown below features (1) 40mm, (2) 25mm, (5) 15mm, (4) 10mm, and (3) 8mm holes from which one has to shoot through to knock down the 1/4” steel plates.
While only 18 yards in distance, a .22 (5.52)mm or .25 (6.35)mm rifle has to be dialed in dead on and be extremely consistent to pass pellets through all fifteen holes without a miss - a fun challenge on a nasty weather day.
This morning, I shot only my “premium” pcp rifles with bipods - generally the most accurate rifles I own, and they didn’t disappoint. I was able to shoot the entire series with each of the rifles without a single miss. Quite a feat for me. No pellet sorting and no single shot loading - all with magazines. The rifles utilized included:
- a Charlie Frear’s tuned cricket in .25 shooting the JSB King Heavy MK1 33.95 gr
- a .22 Brocock Commander XR shooting the AA 18.0 gr
- a .22 RAW (Airforce)HM1000X Chassis shooting the JSB Jumbo Monster Redesigned 25.39 gr
- a .22 Daystate Red Wolf Hi power Ken Hicks tuned rifle shooting the JSB Jumbo Monster Redesigned 25.39 gr
- a .25 Daystate Wolverine R HP Forester shooting the AA 25.4 gr
- a .25 RAW pre Airforce Ken Hicks tuned HM1000X-LRT in walnut shooting the JSB King Heavy MK1 33.95 gr.
A fun exercise for certain!
