bipod mounting on synthetic stock

I went the "simple and easy" route mounting an Atlas rail on the synthetic stock of my FX Bobcat, but when I tightened the screw-in bolts enough to eliminate the wobble of the rail the screws tore out of the composite. I ended up (1) removing the stock; (2) using a Forstner bit in a drill press to drill flat-bottomed holes from the top of the stock; (3) drilling the rest of the way through the stock with a 1/8th inch bit; (4) using T-nuts to receive the rail bolts. Eighteen months later it's still solid as a rock.
