BIG RAGU & THE SECRET SOCIETY

As many of you know, Augie aka @bigragu, had major cervical spine surgery not long ago. If you know Augie as I do, you will know what a generous member of the Airgun Community he has been. There has been at least 2 air gunners for whom he has organized, collected, and or donated and got guns in their hands. Most recently for a local, to him, guy who had 2 airguns stolen from under him before he could even get his hands on them. He posted on this on AGN and that thread can be found HERE .

Prior to that he stepped up to the plate after I had bought an fx wildcat that was not shooting good at all, no matter what I did. Augie was a huge help to me getting that gun to shoot as good as it would ever shoot for me. While, due to that experience, I am not a fan of FX Airguns and will be unlikely to ever buy another one and eventually give up on it and sold it, I am and will be always thankful for all the help and advice he lent me during that "adventure"

Augie had been struggling with his spine for quite a while and was expected to go under the knife again. @2d1c started a Thread letting the members here know that Augie was about to undergo this pretty brutal surgery and asked all to send good vibes his way. Many members commented on that thread and were wishing him the very best outcome. Well, I figured that it was Augie's turn to receive, instead of constantly giving, so I PM'd every member that commented on that thread and asked for a donation of $7.50 so we can buy him a really nice Charcuterie gift basket from Olympia Provisions. The basket was $250 and based on the number of members I asked to donate, it worked out to $7.50, figuring that if I came up short, I along with @2d1c and @stoti would make up the difference and make it happen.

WELL......That collection did NOT go as Planned! Donations started coming in to my PayPal account within minutes, and in less than 48 hours we had collected over $600 for this cause!!! Needless to say I was overwhelmed with the guys' generosity. But now I had another problem. That was way more than I had asked for and would end up with about $350 after paying for the gift basket. So I spoke to Dennis @2d1c and Kevin @stoti and we decided to split the money and buy him an Amazon gift card and the rest of the money would go towards pellets.

As the title says, this was to be a

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CZiz0tfuoI4 and

keep him out of the loop until he received the goods. I held on to the funds, kept everyone involved up to date, and would order the stuffs after he got home from the hospital. That took a few days, but he made it home and the orders were placed, but by then, somehow, someone kinda sorta included him in a PM and he sorta got wind of what we were up to, although he was under the influence of strong pain killers and he was not too sure of what he saw, kinda. Anyway, we forged ahead and he received the gift basket first, then the gift card, and very lastly the pellets. Very lastly because dang if there isn't an ammo shortage! Just at the wrong time!!

I was planning on listing below all the guys that donated and made this possible. Some want to remain anonymous. However, this has been a daunting task and takes a lot of time. While I do have all the names of all the donors, I don't have all the handles associated with those names and frankly I am way over my head in time. While I have some names, I don't have all, so I will only give credit to Trenier Outdoors (Jeff) for working with me on the ammo order and being very generous as well. @2d1c and @stoti for helping me coordinate this project. As for the rest of the folk I ask that you comment below with "Glad to have been part of the 'Get Well for Augie' " if you so choose to.

I have been in touch with @bigragu and he is doing better, but not there yet. I can tell you that although the gifts were not delivered as a utter and complete surprise, he was indeed surprised and extremely Blown Away by your guys' generosity and gesture.

I personally want to thank every single one of you that donated and those that desperately wanted to. I was only accepting PayPal, some guys wanted to mail in checks, they were literally begging to help out, but by that time I had collected way over the target and only accepted their giving heart. Thanks again to all from the bottom of my heart, as I know Augie is very thankful as well.

I will be around.

Many thanks & warm regards

Christian

Yeah, I feel the same. Augie’s a great guy and has helped a lot of people in many ways. This was an awesome thing to do, made Augie feel good and makes most that contributed feel great too. It’s certainly an awesome group of guys and gals here on AGN.

Hope you’re still getting better buddy!

Everyone that contributed, you’re all rockstars!

Thank you Christian, for doing all the heavy lifting. You did awesome!

Stoti

Augie was one of the first friends I made on AGN & felt an immediate connection. I somehow missed the post & didn't donate but have checked in with him a # of times (this morning, as a matter of fact). Get & stay well brother. Gonna carry through on my threats to visit him this year if all goes well. You people here on AGN are the best & THAT'S no secret.

Christian! You beat me to my thank you!!!

The SECRET SOCIETY has struck again!!!

So I came home to this last Friday- caught me completely off guard. I knew I had a shipment of 30 cal Haydes coming in from Trenier to test, but two boxes from Trenier? I didn’t order enough to warrant two shipments!

so I opened the ones I ordered, saw the invoice/receipt, then the larger of the two boxes I open up and find 10 tins of 30 cal 44.75 JSB’s and a single tin of the 30 cal Haydes. First thought was Trenier made a mistake and shipped me someone else’s order!!! There was no invoice in the box! I went in, ready to email Jeff at Trenier to let him know of the error.

Then I remembered Christian telling me to keep an eye out for some get well flowers from the guys. Were these the flowers? I called Christian, and lo and behold, SURPRISE SURPRISE SURPRISE!!

Heres my goofy looking mug letting all know how appreciative I am of what’s been thought of and done-

Ive never had anything done like that for me from folks I’ve never met. It’s a weird feeling, a mix of joy and alliance, and I say alliance as I’m proud to feel a part of this great community. I’ve been on a few forums before outside of the Airguns, and never had I experienced this or witnessed anyone else experiencing this.

To Christian, Kevin(STOTI), Dennis(2LD1C) and the SECRET SOCIETY, I want to say thank you once more. Can’t wait till I’m healed so I can grab these pellets “and shoot ‘em up!”

I re read Christians initial post, and I want to correct him. I was surprised 100% all thru and thru. Yes, I got included in a pm, and yes I saw that while still in the hospital heavily sedated and in crazy crazy pain. After being soaked in my hospital bed a couple of times with my own urine(stupid catheter method they tried and failed, and nurse didn’t respond to my call button fast enough) the thought of even opening up my iPad to cruise thru the AGN forums was the last on my mind. I was miserable, and just wanted to come home.

it wasn’t till they moved me to the rehab facility that I started logging back on, but I had long since forgotten about that pm.

I was going to bail on the forum and go back to being a secretive airgun guy. Sent Bigragu a PM about how I was feeling because we talked before and I felt comfortable airing my feelings to him. I’m still here because of what he had to say. I’m glad the SS gesture was well received but it still can’t compare to the help we all give each other with words.

Glad to see you are on the mend and able to enjoy some well deserved appreciation in the form of trinkets and doo dads. 😁

You are a helpful dude, knowledgable and always ready with constructive input.

You have paid it forwards in spades fella, and have probably saved members of this board multiple thousands in repair costs by helping or guiding them through fixing their gear.

The truest nature of ones character is demonstrated through his actions towards others, and with that in mind, I declare you to be quite the character!!

Be cool, be well, and enjoy!

@ JIMNM- when you said kiss I quickly envisioned the one HAPPY DAYS scene when Fonzie was side blowing on Richie Cunningham during a dance. I know you know the scene, lol!

@VETMX- the sole reason I convinced you to stay active on this forum is- 1. It’s the best forum out there, and 2. You tell it like it is, which is unheard of, and also makes me laugh with what you comeback with sometimes, lol

@ CHUCK-in-OHIO- between the diesel forums I used to frequent, and the marauder forum when I first got in, I got disappointed when I asked my questions that I didn’t know were old hash out ones, and quickly got replies like “the search feature is your friend” or “this has been overly discussed, do a google search”. So, anymore, if I can, I’ll help someone out mainly thru pm’s. I know one day when that newbie becomes seasoned, he’ll do the same for others. I’m by far far from the experts on here, but I help whenever I can with the little I know.

Thanks, to you three, for contributing to the smiles I got when I got home. My wife is still blown away that any of this happened.
