Best speed for .30 JSB 44s out of Impact X 700.

Lewis, I can tell you how the 44.75 and 50 grain JSB's perform out of my Wildcat MKII .30 with 700 mm STX barrel to give you some ideas at least...I am shooting the 44.75's at an average velocity of 930 ft/s, and the 50's at an avg. V of 900 ft/s. When I tuned my rifle my goal was to shoot the 50's at around 890-900 ft/s in the personal belief that all JSB pellets will fly their best at somewhere about that speed out of FX barrels. (the performance of the 44.75's is just a side issue for me). Here are a couple target pics to show you what the 50's due at 50 & 100 yards...and I have only had one chance so far to shoot them at 100 yards and have not perfected the accuracy yet. I will tell you that it has been my experience that the 50's are much more accurate at this power setting than the 44.75's are.

Here are the 50 Grain JSB at 900 ft/s at 50 yards...that's one magazine.

Now here are the 50's at 100 yards with one magazine for each group...

These targets were witnessed at the range by my buddy Joel from Palm Beach Airguns, and three other members of this forum were there also. To put it in proper perspective these groups didn't elicit any more than a half hearted shrug from my friends, because Gabe Rossi was shooting his Streamline .25 and getting 1/2" groups at 100 yards that morning. When Gabe is shooting that Streamline of his any thing less is just Ho Hum but I was pretty proud of them for my Wildcats' first 100 yard outing.

Most people shoot the 44 because they don't have the power to shoot the 50s at very high velocity. The Forty Fours are super accurate at close range up to 50 yards or more but at a hundred yards the fifty greiner's will outperform of the 44s every time...in my rifle.

It's almost a given that you will see somewhat different results better or worse from your own rifle but I don't think the difference will be too great one way or the other. If you push them out of the same Barrel at the same velocity and can trigger your gun as well as this old blind man then you should be able to outshine me all day long. :)

Glad to see some interest in the .30 cal Impact lately. Seeing a few threads on this popping up. Below is a reply I posted in a similar thread in the PCP Forum. It's just linking to the data I posted in yet another thread on the same topic that might be along the lines of what you're looking for:

I had a thread along the same lines elsewhere. Just added to it the other day. Posted some settings and LabRadar data for the .30 (44.75 gr JSBs) in an Impact X with the AMP regulator (but not a MK II) that may be along the lines of what you're interested in. You can see it posted about half way down this page:

Hope this helps.
