Best Scope for AV Avenger under $250

You can get a decent scope for that amount. Do you have a magnification preference? What kind of reticle are you looking for? Do you prefer capped or exposed turrets for clicking? Do you want an illuminated reticle? Do you want first focal plane or second focal plane? You will get some good recommendations once we get a better idea of what you are looking for.

Amazon has a bunch of under $100 scopes that would work fine, just like the CVLife, Pistonjohn mentioned. I got a Beileshi 6-24x50 AO dirt cheap as a "warehouse special." The box had a missing end flap, so they taped it and reduced price by half. Not as nice as the Hawke on my M3, but looks good and works fine on my Gauntlet .25.

I think I want a FFP / AO with exposed turrets I don't care about illuminated reticles I like mil reticles but have old eyes so maybe a bullet drop reticle may be better for my eyes as some of the mil reticles are too fine. Again I would like a 6-24 power but I will not be shooting past 100 yards mostly inside of 60 yards. shooting pests on a small farm. (squirrels, rats, etc)

Thanks

The Hawke Vantage 2x7x32 is probly the best $100-150 scope you will find out there and has that wonderful reticle as well.

The Vector Optics Veyron and Discovery VT-3 scopes are both compact and lighter weight scopes in 3x12x44 with 30mm tubes. They are both decent for the money around $200 and both Mil/Mil scopes so none of that funky Hawke Mil/MOA stuff going on. So there is some give and take between the two and I like them both for what they are.

If you are going for an FFP the Veyron has a pretty thin reticle and it can get lost in a dark background at lower magnification. But it does focus down to 7 yards at full 12 power so that is not often a problem. It weighs in at 17.6oz and has a nice Mil Hash reticle. It is available in a 2nd focal plane scope as well.

The Discovery will just barely focus to 10 yards if you turn the power down to 6 but it has a thicker reticle that is easier to pick up at lower magnification so it is not a problem either. It weighs in at 18.3oz and has a nice Mil Quad reticle. These are also available in 1st or 2nd focal plane.

The Alph6 4.5x27x50 is in the same price range with very good glass and a very good scope for the money as well. Like the Veyron the reticle is a bit thin though.

If you can manage a bit more money the SWFA fixed power scopes are an excellent buy as is the Athlon mentioned above.

I like the Athlon I think it should be enough for 60 yards on squirrels, still open to other options though

Just go for it man. It's got the best turrets and reticle you are gonna find for $250. And it's got the best warranty in the industry. They will fix or replace the scope forever, even if the damage is your fault.

I sent my Argos BTR in because the side focus was clicking. Three days after they received it, I had a brand new scope on the way.

This is pretty much why I would also recommend the Athlon. If anything goes wrong or doesn’t work they will make it right. There aren’t many scope companies that do that especially at this price point.

I just put a West Hunter 4-16 FFP, 30mm, side focus parallax scope on mine. I got it with the Christmas tree recticle, lever power arm and big parallax wheel for about $150 on AliExpress. I think it always comes with a sunshade, rings, and flip top covers (mine did). The glass seems as good as my Primary Arms 4-14 which I took off to mount the West Hunter. So far I really like it. I think it got here in 4 days - from China. I changed from the PA to the WH mainly because I could not move the PA far enough forward which affected my head position. But I like that it has all the accessories. I put it in the medium height rings I used with the PA. The Primary Arms 4-14 is also a nice scope, it goes for about $250, depending some on which recticle you get. I find that 14 or 16 power is plenty out to 100 yards. I use a 3-9 on my 30-06. I've used the 2-7 Hawke Vantage on my Prod out to 50.
