Somewhere there's an ExCon or FedUps truck headed to my house with Dust Devils. I'm curious if they're too messy for indoors. Or how thick steel needs to be that they don't poke holes? (16ga? thicker? thinner?) If 18ga steel with a plywood backer will hold up, I got some ideas.

Cheap, plastic army-men. Then too, it’s hard to beat that old plinking standby; the humble bean-can.
I experimented w/dust devil BBs. Found them to ricochet and break bottles just like standard (and less expensive) steel balls. No more accurate either. Wasn’t too impressed.

I save small used plastic "dixie" cups.
We fill them with water and shoot them with the Red Ryders.
Sidewalk chalk sawn 1/4" thick explode when shot.

Ping pong balls ... yes you will be bounce off's, a few may break threw ... still VERY reactive and lot of fun as they get/bounce further away with every hit.

Yes they are fun to shoot at, fill them with some flour and you got some light version of the exploding golfball, sugarcubes are also fun

If you want an occasional big bang then try the Firebird targets. Stick them out at 30 yards or more to give a bit of challenge

I don't know if they make them anymore. I can't find them around here. Necco candy waffers. They are like the size of a 50c piece and thin. I would describe them as chalky so they shatter with a bit of a poof, and they come in an assorted color/flavor. They are safe to eat so kid and pet safe

They were made in my state. Unfortunately there werewn't enough people using them as targets to keep the company afloat. They went out of business and are closed for good. Damned Hershey Corp.

Old clays are always fun. I found an old box of clays that I had overlooked the last time I was shot-gunning, and when they become too brittle to launch out of my thrower, I use them as reactive targets. Then you can draw a real bead, and shoot the pieces that fall to the ground.

Dudes you blew my mind. So they do make nicco wafers in my state and I thought that ping pong balls were a great idea. I was thinking of premade targets but I like those ideas better. Clay targets would piss my mom off but shotgun shells and dixie cups would work great too.
