Just ordered a P-Rod. I've read a lot about copper coated pellets being the best. Wanted to hear AGN's opinions and experiences.

Best pellets for the stock .22 Marauder Pistol?

I've read the same so I bought the H&N field target trophy power copper plated pellets and they're okay in my Prod. Predators work the best but closely followed by cheap Crosman Premier hollow points at like $7/tin of 500.

Out of the box factory P Rod. The Copper 21gr shot just ok and shot too slow. The 5.54 HNN FTT were laser accurate so were the Crosman Premiers and Pointeds (when sorted according to the larger head sizes) and nothing else came close. Head size makes a big difference in both the P Rod and M Rod rifles. If you end up buying a LW barrel for it then it should shoot just about everything you feed it great including the cheap Wal Mart Crosman Premier Hollow Points straight out of the tins even the ones with the added growth sticking out of the sides which slipped pass qc control.

I wonder if that is all AJ? When .25 CALIBER JSB 24.29 grainers got scarce a few months ago, I switched over to the AirArms 25.4 grainers. Everyone says they're the same pellet design, weight, and shape—they're just made with a different die. However, in my bottled Marauder, the groups are almost identical, except the aiming point is offset by about 2 inches. Obviously, something is different!

Yes the difference is that you got a superior Green Mountain barrel versus a crosman barrel (IN 22 CALIBER) and the ones fitted to the P Rods and M Rods (especially the M Rods) are like the lottery.

Speaking of Green Mountain barrel, I have a project which I have not proceeded with yet. Fitting a 25 Caliber Marauder Green Mountain Barrel onto a P Rod and having the magazines machined out and probe modified for the larger caliber. Probably convert it to a regulated bottle carbine.

I have found that Crosman Ultra Mags are very accurate in a stock Prod along with CPs, which are deadly on squirrels out to 25 yards.

Stock barrel with CPHP at 27 yards
Marmot Militia with CPHP from 27 yards. The cross hairs covered the staple. I tried and tried to hit that dang staple. 8 shots into 2 holes.

I was told that the P Rods with the LW barrels like the HNN FTT Greens the best but haven't tried them yet.

You should try the factory barrel first with HNN FTT 5.54, there may be a possibility it could be a 60 yard shooter straight out of the box.

In my .22 pcp I usually use 18.13 but in my Prod I seem to get good luck with JSB Match Diabolo Exact Jumbo RS .22 Cal, 13.43 Grains, Domed. Of course since they are lighter they shoot a little faster. And I have been known to test many different pellets in each gun.

wow...I ordered all the pellets that was shown on YouTube and it didn't meet my satisfaction. However I tried it again after installing a regulator and it made a pretty big difference on the accuracy. I than installed a MMHF barrel the stock barrel on my Prod is no match. Mountain Air machines LW barrel for the Prod and it's probably pretty accurate too.

AJ is right on with his suggestions.. I have one of first 100 released maurader pistols. Crosman stock barrel performance was poor, LW convert and now shoot any pellet really well.

Mine shoots either the 15.89 or 18.1 JSBs the best, stock Crosman barrel. The CPHP and CPUM were both all over the place. Of course every gun has a different pellet preference.

Best pellets on mine are H&N Sniper Light (14.04gr) & H&N Field Target Trophy (14.66gr).
Predator Polymag Shorts (15.89gr) are also pretty good but little behind.
All the rest i tried (30+) don't work very nice on my stock barrel P-rod unfortunately ..
