Best PCP for long range accuracy.

I myself do not hunt at those ranges simply because A) I don't live in an area that has 200 yards of open range for hunting and B) I am not skilled enough to take a well placed shot at an animal at that range with an air gun. However, I do think it is doable with the right equipment. These videos of the FX Impact seem to prove that it's quite capable of delivering enough energy at that range.

mtnGhost.... What caliber are you having the most success at longer distances?

52gr .217 (0.185 BC) and the Griffin 40-44gr (0.155-0.163BC). Anything less seems to suffer too much from wind drift.

Those BCs are amazing, and blow away your typical .22LR bullet...! Damn, I need to try some heavier slugs, since I've been using lighter ones with 0.08 to 0.09 BC. When its not very windy I have no problem with .22 NSA 20.2 gr or FX Hybrid 22 gr at 175 yards or so on Ground Squirrels. Just a few weeks ago I had 3 shots at 161, 176, 176 yards, and three dead GS. Early morning, hardly any wind... I still have 27 FPE at 175 yards, so no worries about enough power at long range.

Yeah, the weight and smaller meplats definitely seem to set them apart.

They're accurate and flat shooting, but I have been having a real hard time this summer with some of the ammo made from soft Corbin lead. I worked through all of the harmonic issues with my airguns at high power, but I noticed the ammo was shooting much better on cooler days. Sure enough, I confirmed that the problems I was having was due to deformation.

This happened to me once before with some of Dale's 30 cal ammo. His harder alloy solved the problem.

The lower BC ammo like the lighter NSAs does surprisingly well. I had about the same results as you, great on calm days to 175-200y. A month ago, I was testing 44gr in my Taipan, then decided to shoot some 24.8gr for fun with my reg jacked up for the heavy ammo. They were surprisingly accurate at over 1200fps with one of the newer 700mm FX barrels in my Vet. Definitely good enough for hunting prairie dogs (just wish that we had them here!).
