Best optic for close range hunting.

I am new to air rifles and know next to nothing about optics. I am shooting rats at dusk/night outside my barn. My Brocock does not have an iron sight so I have a scope that I believe is 3x. I purchased a Pard 007 to allow me to avoid using a spotlight and have the ability to switch to daytime shooting. Most of the rats are in the 25-30 foot range. I need quick target acquisition- I have killed all of the slow rats- but the magnification makes this difficult. I assume there is an easy answer to this question. I spoke to the guy at my local gun store and received what I presume is the same blank stare that all air rifle people get at gun stores.

Try an AR 1-6 scope, they usually have the right size eye piece to mount the Pard007. I tried it and works great! However because it doesn’t have adjustable focus not all ranges will be clear mostly in the 5-6 x range. At 1-2x the 007 worked really well with my Alpha6 1-6 scope with really wide field of view. Another scope you can try is the MTC viper connect which supposed to have more than double the field of view. Mine should be here next week, however I think the 1-6 works amazing well at 1x with the 007 and would be a better fit because of 007’s built in 1.5 magnification.

That pard 007 looks like it needs a full sized scope to clamp down on..... I am not sure if there are any lpvo scopes that are long enough to do what you need. Most low power variable scopes are small. Anyone know of a 1.5 power scope that's full sized?

Any 30mm AR 1-4 or 1-6 or if you got the coins 1-10 scope, really wide field of view at 1x with full size eye piece. Also they have long eye relief the 007 likes.

this setup actually works better in really close range than my ATN 4k pro 5-20 for obvious reason, 1x zoom.

edit: if need one these AR scopes you know who Yo gonna call! LOL One gripe I have with the Alpha 6 is the big round dot in the middle but I got use to it and can stack pellets pretty good with it but just need to guestimate where the center is, it's super clear though. A chevron like the ones on ACOG would of been much better or a horseshoe or squire with a tiny center dot.

Tac Vector makes a 1.5-9. Fixed parallax. Not sure if it would have an easy to adjust objective lens.

Leica makes a 1.5-10. Fixed parallax & expensive as I recall.

March makes a 1.5-15x42. Side focus to 10 yards but also expensive.

There are others but can't think of them.

Edit... Sniper has a 1.5 scope. Least expensive I can think of.

Or... you could put down some bait to give those fast rats a reason to pause.

Can you back up and shoot them from a little further? 10 yards on fast movers you want some sort of reflex sight.

Ditto. You are already down to 3x... you need to bait and slow them down. You have the upper hand with NV!

Or forget the NV, light the area, bait it and use a reflex sight. Again ditto on L.Leon's suggestion.
