Crosman Best mods to make 1322 quieter and easier to pump?

Hey guys, I've been looking for a gun to get my dad to help with his pest problem. He's done traps and everything but some of the rats and squirrels just dont go for them. He is in a very urban setting so the gun needs to be quiet. I got him a hatsan airtract, and a umatrex prymex but it was too much for him to get cocked and too loud even after cleaning the barrel.

We tried the crossman and its hard for him to get up to 10+ pumps, but maybe with some mods it could be more manageable. For mods, something that makes the pumping easier, or that gets more power out of each pump would be ideal, he would mostly be shooting fairly close 5-15m and for rats, gophers, squirrels. And obviously a moderator/suppressor(still not really sure the difference), to quiet it down. I've seen Buck Rail seems to be the go to for that side. I saw the post yesterday about the adjustable flat top and valve to increase power, so will look into that as well and whatever other recs you all have.

I've also considered some budget PCP and hand pump like a storm rider, or a refurb hatsan or something. Thanks AGN!

Adding more power will increase the amount of force required to pump . adding length to the pump handle will make it easier to pump would be easy to add to the1377 or 1322 see picture you could even make it a few inches longer along the bottom of the grips . www.airgundepot.com/crosman-1322-air-pistol-black.html . many places sell these

Wow that extended lever looks great, do you know where I could get one? I tried googling crossman 13xx/1322/1377 extended lever arm but nothing came up besides longer wood grips.

no you would just have to make one , the picture was just to give you the idea . the link to 1377 or 22 for sale was the first one i googled and a bit higher $$ but the same can be found for less if you do a search . what are you thinking of for $$$ , to be honest the 1377 will kill a rat but you do not want to body shoot anything , it will crawl home die and stink . shoot only in the head and if necessary walk up to it and shoot again maybe a few times . EDIT these are not that loud but again not that quiet , Their are slip on adaptors to make it a threaded barrel (1/2 X20 is standard size .
Also a word of warning most places have laws about shooting in town so if your going to do this do not say a word to ANYBODY . , keep it a secret

Maybe poison if you don't have pets ?

Was hoping to keep it under $200-250, I'll be keeping my eye on the members marketplace here for good deals too. I just thought .22 would be more humane/stopping power, and potentially quieter(at least on the breaknecks we started off with).

Yes definitely headshots only. I will probably make another post later about budget quiet PCPs(storm rider, gamo arrow, urban, flash, etc). Pumping and breakneck is too hard for my dad to do, so I don't mind hand pumping a PCP every week or so for him.

PP700 /750 are good accurate pistols . rifles by adding a stock and they are threaded for a Moderator / silencer (same thing ) some people use moderator so the Silencer word is not present .

As for noise, a chinesium muzzle block to 1/2 unf is worth it. As for lumping effort, maybe a flat top valve and piston but it will be the same calories. Fewer more strenuous pumps, or more less strenuous pumps.

I'd explore lighter pellets and see how few pumps you can get away with. It only takes 1.5 fpe to take a rat iirc.

Buy him a Shoebox clone off Amazon? theyre sub 200 dollars now.

If a fair weather pester a CO 2 rifle with an aftermarket LDC would work fine.
I was worried that CO2 wouldn't have enough oomph behind it to get a clean kill, especially since sometimes the problem is raccoons killing his chickens.

My other worry with CO2 is that I heard you should spend the entire cartridge once installed, and that it will wear down the o-rings(cheap) and valves, etc.

Thanks for the recs, I would rather support someone like the buck rails guys, but this looks great, where did you get the adapter for the moderator, and the rail system for the optics?

Amazon for the muzzle adapter and for the dovetail-weaver adapter. Otherwise the gun got a steel breech and 22 barrel when I found the original 177 to be badly rust damaged.

you could try using gun oil but i dont know how much it would help but it is cheaper than modding so it may be worth a shot. But i do hope u find solution and have a bawl with it :) so best wishes!!!

I'd really consider a CO2 gun for someone who has physical limitations and shoots infrequently. there are a ton of options out there

But if you want him to get the 1322 it would be super simple to improve on the fore stock. There's a vendor on ebay (toymaker95) that makes beefier stocks which might help a bit along w a lot of other cool stuff. He has ring stocks as well which would be way easier to pull than the standard slippery plastic furniture. If nothing else you could fabricate your own like beerthief suggest.

I don't have the 1377/22 series guns (yet), but the pumpers that I do own are extremely quiet. Especially in comparison to a PCP.

That said I really enjoy my pumpers. I have a couple Sheridans and have 2 "vintage" 1377s due to arrive tomorrow. So stoked. I wouldn't discourage you on the purchase.
